John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham was the godfather of hard rock drumming, and he remains an idol to legions of Led Zeppelin and heavy metal fans worldwide. John Bonham: A Thunder of Drums tells how Bonham had to be courted away from more lucrative offers to join the newly formed band in 1968, and how he helped, guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant create such famous songs as "Stairway to Heaven" and "Kashmir" until his sudden death in 1980 at the age of 32. His unmistakable drum patterns are among the most emulated and sampled by today's rock drummers. This book is the first biography focusing on Bonham, providing a detailed track-by-track analysis of his greatest recordings, 45 color photos, and the most detailed and accurate inventory ever of Bonham's drum kits and percussion equipment.

The Godfather of Rock Biographies

I got this book a year ago and it is my favorite book. John Bonham a Thunder of Drums takes you through everything you could want to know about old Bonzo. I gave it a 4.5 for features because of everything it has in there. It talks about everything from the drum parts to classic Zep tracks to the grip that Bonzo used. It got a 4.5 for quality because it is definatly a quality book. I gave it a 5 for value because as I said it quickly became my favorite book and it was only twenty bucks. I gave it a 4.5 overall because I felt it could have used some more things in there but it is a very good book. I recomend it to any drummer, Zeppelin fan or any who has ever heard a Zeppelin Song.
