This fantastic 2-hour-long digital video disc shows guitarists how to play the important parts to every song on this influential album. The DVD is hosted and taught by the late Velvert Turner, a student and friend of Jimi's, with demonstrations by ace Hendrix educator Andy Aledort. For each song, the guitar parts are first played slowly, then up to speed to help players learn each riff and solo properly, and there are backing tracks to play along with. As a bonus, this DVD includes actual footage of Jimi playing many of the songs explored and covered. Learn "Purple Haze," "Manic Depression," "Hey Joe," "Love or Confusion," "May This Be Love," "I Don't Live Today," "The Wind Cries Mary," "Fire," "Third Stone from the Sun," "Foxey Lady," "Are You Experienced?" "Stone Free," "51st Anniversary," "Highway Chile," "Can You See Me," "Remember," and "Red House." • Have it. AWESOME!!!!

As reviewed by Justin on 1/15/2008

Even though it may be a little on the expensive side for a single dvd, it is well worth it. You learn to play every song from the Are You Experienced album. Its all broken down into detail. Everything. Nothing is overlooked. And if youre lookin to play these songs like Hendrix then this is probably the best dvd out there. As far as difficulty level, you do have to work at it, BUT i say that youre gonna learn what you WANT to learn as long as u have a true desire for it and work hard. When i first started playin there were boring simple things that i couldnt play but there were some difficult things that i could play just because i had the desire to learn. Its all in your work ethic and the frame of mind you approach it in. HOWEVER I DO BELIEVE LEARNING SOME BASIC MUSIC THEORY AND TECHNIQUES WILL MAKE YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE MUCH EASIER. BUT, i digress. This DVD is excellent!!

  • Id pass on this

Flashy & a broad overview, but the teaching substance technique was lacking & short. the one guy is talking a lot of obscure lingo & fancy stuff which is unneeded, & then normal speed riff is played followed by the 'slow' riff, which isn't really that slow. you have to try & guess what is played & confirm it by ear as there is no attention to notes, details or anything. I am going to sell mine on ebay & buy the ones by danny gill as he breaks it down note by note & explains as a teacher should & I am sticking with his stuff, which also has the jam tracks that are available to match it.
