Great beginner's Guide

Fretboard Roadmaps is agreat guidbeook for beginning guitarists. It is well laid out, easy to follow, and gives budding soloists just enough chord and scale theory to keep from overwhelming them. Not recommended for intermediate/experienced guitar players as it is not in-depth enough.

Mainly for those just learning to drive. . .

Fretboard Roadmaps isn't a bad reference book. It has large, clear diagrams and it's written in a very straightforward, "do this, get that" style. Unfortunately, it's also not a terribly deep book. By that, I mean it doesn't really go beyond very basic chord and scale theories. If you're an intermediate to advanced player, it probably won't reveal anything you don't already know or at least instinctively execute. If you're a beginner or you really have no clue as to what a pentatonic scale is, then this is a fine place to start. Seasoned players will most likely find the journey a bit short, however.
