Do not listen to any of the reviews that say that this book is not for people who don't know how to read music. I started playing guitar 3 weeks ago and I can already play "Ode to Joy" and "Aura Lee" (etc...). This book is amazing and even includes some popular sheet music songs, such as the ones I listed above. I do have a guitar teacher, yes, but without him I could still mostly learn this on my own! I enjoy the diagrams, because they teach you where to put your fingers on the frets, how to hold your hand over the neck of the guitar, and even gives you some hints on shortcuts to tuning. I will definately hope to be able to play "Frere Jacques" in about a week or so...wish me luck and enjoy this inexpensive, easy-to-learn, helpful book!
It is easy to learn from. I am already pretty far in it, and I just started learning guitar. This book was suggested to me by some guitarists I know, and it worked for them too. If you're just starting out you should get this book.
This book is not easy to understand for the beginer and the cds just have someone who is experienced playing the cords quickly and no verbal teaching. I would try another book if I had the chance
