Fat sound and legendary style: the return of an icon.

When their production stopped in 1983, Hagstrom guitars became instant collectors items. For decades they maintained their market value so well that Hagstrom resumed production in 1996 to rave reviews. The Swede electric guitar is one of their most cherished models, reborn with a mahogany body, carved mahogany top, set mahogany neck, bound Resinator fretboard, and 2 Hagstrom Custom '58 humbuckers for the classic tone that made Hagstrom famous. Hagstrom's patented H-Expander truss rod prevents twisting as well as warpage. 5-ply top binding, pearl block inlays, and chrome hardware provide sharp visuals. Left-handed version.

  • Hagstrom Swede offers Incredible Versatility of Sound

As reviewed by David Michael LaBuda on 7/15/2009

Thie thig I really like about this guitar is the versatility of sound you can achieve with the double toggle switch design. The only other Guitar on the market that offers this feature is the Gretch Anniversary Model and for the price, the Hagstrom is by far the most reasonably priced of the two. I can get bright and/or harsh Treble/Metal sounds or Smooth/Mellow Jazz sounds or go from a subdued background rythm guitar sound to a bright/clear punchy Lead sound at the flick of a switch. Most muscians I know have to have two or three different guitars to achieve that same kind of sound versatility.

  • Pickups were good, Neck was TERRIBLE

As reviewed by Bryan Hunt on 9/27/2010

I picked up this guitar and really liked the sound. This guitar offers a WIDE range of sounds with the tone switch. There wasn't a whole lot I didn't like about it. You could customize your tone very well if you're good at messing with guitar/amp/pedal settings to get a specific tone. Upon opening the box though, the guitar was missing the tone knobs, so the guys at GC Cerritos just opening a box of All Parts knobs and put them on. I continued to play, the factory action wasn't bad at all. Was probably going to get it set up anyway, but I could definitely get through a show with this action. What angered me and immediately made put this guitar down and get my refund was the quality control on the neck. No lie: frets 18, 19, and 20 were all the same note. I guess the guys at the factory cut a little too far down into the fretboard where the 18th and 19th frets go and just pumped the guitar out of the factory. And this is aside from the slight fret buzz among 5 or 6 frets (too much for me). I'm going to reorder this guitar once more. If there is the same problems, bye Hagstrom.
