Worth the Money

By Carter

from Huntersville, NC

I have been drumming for about a year and, despite my improvements, the noise from my drums drove everyone at my home insane. I received these pads as a Christmas gift (not just for me) and I must say that they are amazing! The drums are muted, but not to the point at which one cannot hear the drums and they really do retain the same feel. The bass drum mute is very easy to install, and it mutes very well. The only problem I have run into is that the bass drum wore out quickly. Even though I was troubled by this, I figured that this pad must have worn out due to a production error (HQ generally builds very high quality equipment); so I contacted customer service. They handled the issue very quickly and thoroughly (They have fantastic customer service!). I give this a five out of five due to how well the mutes function and outstanding customer service.

Definitely Worth the Money

By Carter

from Huntersville, NC

Just got these today and they are fantastic. My instructor had a set of Vic Firth pads, which were okay, but the cymbal mutes were only partial and the toms were exremely muted (I could barely hear them). These, however, are amazing. The high hat and ride mutes wrap the cymbal, which completely deadens the noise (and allows you to hear if you are on beat). In addition, the toms are easier to hear, yet they are muted just enough to keep the noise to a minimum. The kick mute is very intriguing (clamps to the hoop) yet serves its purpose well. If you want to get any mutes, these are the ones to buy.

Won't let you down

By John Young

from Porterville, CA

I bought the whole set of these. one for snare, 2 rack toms, floor tom, kick drum, hi-hats, crash and ride. All i can say is awesome! Man, you put all them on and you can play at midnight and nobody knows the difference! Beat 'em up, they can take it. Or, practice rudiments, while other people are in the room, it won't disturb anyone. So easy to put on and take off. The only one that actually requires any effort is the kick drum mute and that just tightens down with your drum tuning key. No big whoop. Highly recommend them. All of them!!!

Cymbal mutes are good

By Cam

from Temecula, CA

The rubber cymbal mutes stop the sound, but they include 1 smaller mute which lays on the cymbal. The smaller mute doesn't work so well. Also, the mutes that lay on the drum heads do not give you the proper rebound and actually cause me to play differently that normal.

Good Mutes

By Mike X

from Dallas, TX

The mutes definitely deaden the drums and cymbals. I use a Tama Iron Cobra double bass pedal, and when I really get it cranking, the mute doesn't muffle the drum very much. But other than the bass drum not being muffled enough, the sound from the other drums and cymbals is very well controlled. I wouldn't recommend these for apartment use since the bass drum isn't silenced more. Perfect for playing with headphones to your music.

Pretty good.

By Steve

from Tulsa, OK

First off, this set does cut way down on the noise produced by the kit. The bass and tom mutes work great. However, it's not as quiet as I thought it would be. You cannot put these on your kit and play as hard as you want in your apartment at 2 a.m. Your neighbors WILL be knocking on your door. The hi-hat and ride mutes make the cymbals sound like you're hitting a piece of wood, and not as quiet as I would like, so I don't use those. Striking the crash correctly still produces a fairly loud ring, but that's easy to work around. Overall, a good system. I have two roommates and while they can still hear me play, it's not so loud that it annoys them. Worth it in my book.
