These work for me

By John

Comments about HQ Percussion Sound Off Standard Pack:

I am using a set of Sound Offs on a Pearl Traveller kit. I had a set of mesh heads I was using for practice, but these particular heads are slippery, so the stick feel was not very enjoyable for me, and I got tired of changing heads to go from practice to play mode. The kit is a fusion set, but I bought the standard pack instead of the fusion pack because it was about $10 less. I just cut the pads down. Very quick and easy. I was not expecting much, just wanting to get a better stick feel and be able to practice in my apartment. So when I started playing and was pleasantly surprised, I was.....pleasantly surprised. Playing with rods allow me to use cymbals without a sound killer on them. So I have my snare and 10, 12, 14 toms covered. With the rods, the sound on the toms is pretty nice. I get enough sound to hear something, but not enough to bother the neighbors (that I know of). The snare is a deep steel shell and the sound from it is even less than toms. Still need a cheap solution for the kick, but for the money I am pleased.

Not noise reduction but chop developers

By Rac

from Honolulu Hawaii

Comments about HQ Percussion Sound Off Standard Pack:

Been practicing with HQ silencer pads on all five drums for the past two months now and have made improvement in my live performances. Main reason I've utilized these during practice isn't because of cutting noise but mainly because of it's "Non-Responsive" surfaces. Being non-responsive requires you to work harder aiming for more precision in developing cleaner chops and rudimental coordination which makes for cleaner execution when playing drums live without them. The results have been improved, 99% better performances in live situations (on the gig). Practicing with non-responsive surfaces allows you to hear where you are weak (weaker hand, foot coordinates and unaware sloppiness) and to strengthen those areas by working harder yet smarter. Practicing on non-responsive surfaces opens the opportunity for improvement and development playing your drums in a live situation - and that's taken it to the stage.

good for practice

Comments about HQ Percussion Sound Off Standard Pack:

I have had these for about a month now, because my parents were getting tired of the constant noise i was making while playing. These have held up well so far, and the level of reduction is impressive. the only reason im giving this a four star rating is because of the snare mute. the tom mutes work exremely well, but the snare isnt muted as much, but that might just be because i have a 6 1/2" snare... this is a great deal, even without the bass mute. if you need significant sound reduction when you're practicing, buy these..for $30 you cant go wrong!
