Guild has been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since 1963, and their instruments are revered for their value, reliability, tone, responsiveness, outstanding projection and sustain. The D55 Traditional Dreadnought
Acoustic-Electric Guitar has a full-bodied, high-volume body style that was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid and bass registers project evenly. The result is one of the most musically versatile dreadnoughts anywhere.
Guild's flagship model, the D55 dreadnought guitar, was introduced in 1968 as a special order-only item, but the response was so strong that within a few years it became a regular production model. The D55 acoustic guitar is prized by players worldwide, from George Strait to Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls). This model features a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, a three-piece mahogany neck, ebony bridge and fingerboard with mother of pearl and abalone block position inlays, and "G"-shield logo. The D-TAR® Wave-Length„¢/Load and Lock pickup system makes amplifying this baby a plug-n-play cinch!

I had owned and D-55 back in the 70's but like anything nice you have you got to raise and family and need money. Two months ago I walked into a local shop and there was a D-55 in Sunburst on the wall. I grab the guitar and started to play and there was the sound I had always wanted. Also playability very nice. I have played them all since myt old D-55 and none can compare. If your looking for a great sounding guitar this is the one for you. Don't pass it by like I said I've owned Gibson, Takamine, Marin, and Taylor and there were high end guitars and none compare.
