But I am now using the "Genlex" KT66 made by New Sensor. The Shaugang is the stock part in Marshall Vintage Moderns and I used those tubes in my VM for over a year. Filament hum was always a minor issue freom day one but it got replace-the-tubes-time annoying after a year. I bought a set of Shaugang (because all the chatter on the VM forums was that all other KT66 were crap "shaugang rules" etc..,)I also bought a pair of Gold Lion KT66 becasue looking at them i noticed two design improvements - the plate structure is mounted down near the base and they dont have those small confining plates waving like flags on top of that.OBVIOUS structural improvement. Everything else being equal the Gold Lion tubes will last longer and run quieter, and they have. They dont look like GEC's but really, who cares?
6l6's big bro the kt66 fat clear tone w/pick dynamics, conversion from 6l6's easy by most amp techs, have them in my divided by 13 17/29 model WOW!! tight bass no mud brite but not ice pickey cut through mix live, goin in my 67 super reverb too! great!!!
