a friend of mine has one for his bass. it seems really well made. i have a guy who makes my straps for me (just bought a gretsch one), and his are also $49, so that seems reasonable.
to the guy who couldn't get it to work with his guitar - gretsches don't have regular strap buttons. they use a knob-and-pin type strap-lock system. this means that the strap doesn't have a buttonhole. instead, it has just a very small hole for the threaded end of the gretsch strap button system. the only way you could make this work with another guitar would be to cut a vertical slit in the leather, starting in the strap hole. but this would be quite dangerous, as the straps are quite thick and stiff. you're better off buying a regular strap for a non-gretsch guitar.

For many reasons I like this strap. It reminds me of 1960 traveling across the country in an old blue station wagon with cowboy, saddle and cow images on the brown vinyl seats. The images tooled into this strap are very like those and they bring a smile to my memories. Even thought Iۡm 51 years old I still love the cowboy theme of this strap. That is the good part. The leather is extremely stiff and dry, even after working the leather and oiling it properly the strap is impossible to put it on a normal guitar strap button without modification. My guitar isnۡt a Gretsch so it doesnۡt have Gretsch style strap buttons, it is very possible that this isnۡt a problem with their style button, but it is a major issue with normal buttons. If you purchase this strap I suggest getting a strap lock system so you can easily remove the strap. You very likely will need to remove the strap. Why? Because if your not VERY careful the buckle and strap end ornaments/jewelry can be brutal to the finish of your guitar. I guess I canۡt blame the strap for this though, I knew the buckles were there when I made my purchase. Strap locks like the Schaller design will make it very easy to remove the strap making it a lot easier to live with this strap.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Vintage Tooled Leather Guitar Strap:

The strap looks awesome in the pics, in person it looks and feels thin, plastic like and flimsy. The jeweled buckle looks like something from a gumball machine. I suppose it will work for a while, but its definitely not the same quality as the the plainly styled Gretch vintage strap or a Fender Vintage style strap or even the free Gibson Historic strap that comes with Historic reissue guitars. I see why Eldorado and other quality makers are 3 times the price.

This is a really nice looking strap and adds a certain amount of customizing to your guitar. A great looking strap for on stage shows, rather than just a practice strap. This is my second Gretsch Vintage strap.

        Guitar Strap

        from Sallisaw Ok

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Vintage Tooled Leather Guitar Strap:

        It also looked cheap.
It was the stiffest strap, we could not get it over the guitar bottons and was afraid of damaging guitar or the strap, the only way to do we were going to have to make a bigger hole, and we did not want to do that, so we sent it back for a refund.

        By Sailor Ripley

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Vintage Tooled Leather Guitar Strap:

I just received my Gretsch vintage guitar strap. I got the black one for my walnut Country Gentleman. The strap is all leather with chrome hardware and red and yellow jewel inlays. The leather is embossed with the famous Gretsch cacti and bull skulls, as well as the pad piece with the "GreTsch" logo. I know it's fifty bucks, but is real heavy duty leather with great detail. These would look and feel great on any Gretsch guitar!
