It's nice to be able to buy something so playable for so little money. I'm just learning, but I really like this banjo. Quality seems built into it, stays in tune (original strings too). Can't put it down!
I've been playing guitar for about 7 years, and I decided that I wanted to learn the Banjo. My wife and I got our income taxes back, and we decided to give each of ourselves a $200 allowance to get something we wanted. I researched all the banjos in my price range, here at Guitar Center and other online music stores, and I noticed this Gretsch. One of my friends has a Gretsch electric guitar that I've always loved, and I know they have a good reputation, so this model became the frontrunner in my research. I talked to a professional banjo player on YouTube (he plays a high-dollar Gibson), and he told me that Gretsch is a great brand of Banjo. He recommended it over Epiphones and Washburns at similar prices (though he had some good things to say about Washburn banjos). There is only one picture of this banjo on the listing, and it does not do justice for the instrument's beauty. I recommend looking at some more photos (Google Images). I'm no expert when it comes to the Banjo, but I can say that this one has a clear, classic sound, and it plays easy (it's not hard to push the strings down).
