Overview

The Gretsch G9200 Boxcar Resonator marks the return of resonators to the Gretsch family. It has the round neck that's preferable for blues-based music such as Mississippi Delta blues, country blues or even ragtime blues. A square neck version, which is used for bluegrass, is also available (please see model G9210, our sku# H80549). The G9200 features a beautiful mahogany body with traditional-style F holes. The heart of this richly resounding guitar is the Gretsch Ampli-Sonic resonator cone, hand-spun in Eastern Europe from nearly 99-percent pure aluminum for fantastic volume and sonic projection.

Gretsch is proud to take players on a musical journey through nearly a century of great Gretsch history by introducing its Roots Collection of acoustic instruments. This exciting family of banjos, mandolins, resonator guitars, ukuleles and Rancher acoustic guitars feature classically authentic Gretsch designs that transport players to a bygone era well before the company made its acclaimed 1950s entry into the electric guitar world.

Case sold separately.

beautiful guitar; love the rustic sound and the vintage look. the only problem is that cork guitar strap peg on the bottom slipped out a week after i brought it home; but fixed it quickly with wood glue and is all better now:)

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Root Series G9200 Boxcar Round Neck Resonator:

This is a solid, well-built Chinese guitar. The tone is very good. It has it's own unique voice compared to my other guitars. In particular, the strings resonate in a balanced fashion, which I like. In-other-words, it's not bass-heavy like some guitars. The factory action seemed higher than what I prefer. I typically have new guitars set-up by my Luthier; however, the more I play it, the more I like the action right where it is. This is my resonator guitar and I'm quite enamored with it.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Root Series G9200 Boxcar Round Neck Resonator:

Great resonator only con is the strap peg/holder is a wooden cork thing that falls out easily and can't be replaced with a normal straplock due to the big hole when the cork comes out. I just drilled a second strap holder so I could lock it. Other than than that I love it.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Root Series G9200 Boxcar Round Neck Resonator:

I ordered the guitar online and it delivered very quick, in very nice packaging.
The strings were even in tune and very good quality. The guitar sounds amazing for the price. I love how deep and loud it is for such a small 1930's style delta blues resonator. The action is perfect and the neck has the "V" shape that sits great up next to your hand. everyone who sees it and hears it are blown away. When I tell them what I paid for it, they simply can't believe it. I sat down in Guitar Center and played 80% of the guitars in the acoustic room and this guitar took my attention as soon as I strummed it a few times. I went home and looked them up and seen the reviews. It has a sound that can match any other guitar. You will only be disappointed if you don't buy it.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars Root Series G9200 Boxcar Round Neck Resonator:

I used to have a very inexpensive resonator guitar that I used it for recording. I had never played another one so I really was pleasantly surprised how wonderfully different this one is. It looks, feels and sounds incredible. Unlike my other resonator, this instrument can be played in place of a standard acoustic guitar because the tone is so beautiful, yet it has all the bluesy twang you would hope for in a resonator. It's great for fingerpicking chords or playing slide licks. I plan on doing both. Do not hesitate to buy this guitar, you won't be sorry
