Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6131T Power Jet Firebird Electric Guitar:

I love mine (a 50th b'day present to myself). Been playing a Strat (Bonnie Raitt sig.) and 67 Tennessean for years, so this is my first humbucker (never liked the weight and fat neck of a Les Paul). Initially sounded very dark until I learned to roll off the neck pickup about a quarter turn (with both pickups engaged). Stays nice and fat at low volumes through a Hot Rod Deluxe for small venues. Been falling in love with the rhythm setting lately - really sweet and full on clean leads. Always gets comments and others wanting to try it.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6131T Power Jet Firebird Electric Guitar:

I scored mine on sale along with generous Friend 15% off coupon for the labor day holiday... but now that I have one, I would happily pay full price.

The Powertron pickups just rock. Back off the volume a bit and they provide the clear jangle of a single coil Tele or Strat. Crank the volume knob and get the growl of Humbuckers as good as my Les Paul Traditional Gold Top with 490T/R and Jimmy Page wiring.

Setup out of the box is perfect for me. Pinned bridge so no messing around with intonation. Locking Tuners. Ends in perfect tune after bigsby use. Fit and Finish excellent. Very retro yet modern looking guitar. like a woman in a Red teddy with Black nylons, sexy black back and red top...

I cover outlaw country, Eagles on through to Zep, ZZ Top, Cream, Clapton, SRV, CCR, BB King, Petty, Green Day, Black Crows, Sublime, Foos and this one guitar handles them all with ease. Early Beatles and 50's rock sound out of this world. Even surf music classics from the ventures, dick dale, sound so good I can hear the waves.

I recommend any G6xxx series of guitar over a G5xxx, the quality differences are astounding. as always the musicians friend has shown to be my friend, great guitar at a great price, free 2 day shipping this labor day.

Stop reading reviews, pull the trigger and get it, I promise this is a keeper no matter if you have one or many.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6131T Power Jet Firebird Electric Guitar:

I own this guitar in the black finish. Here's what you get. Locking tuners.. Ebony board.. Awesome pickups.. Solid bridge.. Strap locks.. And a solid tremolo... All this in a classic design and a very clean build. If this guitar were made domestically.. It would probably sell for much more.. These pickups are becoming "the" thing on many top brand guitars.. Why.. They sound great! I have a 1985 signature series PRS that's my main guitar... This Gretsch is my close #2. I know it's going to take this guitar landing in the hands of a "big" name (no disrespect to Neil Finn) before the word gets out.. The only thing I would add would be a graphite nut and an attachment sold on the secondary market to add to the tremolo. But trust me.. You won't regret getting this guitar!

        Favorite Guitar

        By t-bone-OK2Ug

        from Kent, OHio

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6131T Power Jet Firebird Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for over 40yrs and the Gretsch Firebird is by far my favorite. Great action, features, tone and style. I run it through a Fender Blues De'ville 212 with visual sound jekyll&hyde and H2O effects pedals. Like the previous review, my strap lock worked loose and I had it repaired. Other than that, Guitar has performed perfectly. You won't be dissappointed, the Firebird is the real deal.

        What a great axe!!

        By IGotToHaveItMan

        from Washington State

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6131T Power Jet Firebird Electric Guitar:

I got mine for a great price, and I don't regret it! It does everything you would think and more! I play mine through a handwired Fender Vibroverb with the Diaz Mod and an 808 Tubescreamer...WOW!!! Sounds like classic Fogerty or great Vaughan/blues tone! Very versatile and handles anything! Highly recommended! The only reason I knocked down quality a bit was the fact that the Schaller strap lock pin got loose and I had to thread it with some glue and one of the back covered access holes has a bit of paint missing (from factory). Other than that...NO probs! Great action to boot!

        One beautiful guitar!

        By dontemonty

        from Lubbock, TX

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6131T Power Jet Firebird Electric Guitar:

I checked this out at GC about a week ago and was so suprised how deep and mellow this guitar actually sounded with each note. It almost sounded like it hummed instead of brash poppy notes. I could bend the strings and they stayed in perfect tune and the neck was very comfortable and easy to move around on. The price is a little steep, but this is such a beautiful instrument that you'll get compliments from everyone who sees it; it looks so classic yet it can play so much different styles of music. You should check it out; you won't be disappointed.
