Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

I am having a blast recreating the 60's Beatle sound and British invasion. Notto mention a great "twangy" sound.

Gretsch G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman

By Jerry

from Murfreesboro TN

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Not this time. You get so MUCH more. Even at full MSRP this instrument is a bargain. I went to the Guitar Center in Franklin (Cool Springs), TN a few weeks ago and I traded my wonderful Gretsch Duo Jet for the 6122-62 and have never looked back. I have guitars that cost more, but none better in quality and sound. Played thru my Vox amps it sounds tremendous, but for me, my '65 Fender Twin Reverb reissue brings out the best of what it does. To each their own, but this guitar offers pure sound pleasure. An old classic, but the sound never gets old.

Gretsch G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar

By Tom

from Scottsdale, AZ

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

Superb instrument. Great tone, nicely finished (no cheap stuff). I made a few slight action adjustments, put on some light strings, and polished it up. Plays great, sound great, looks great, what more can you say! Guitar Center provided a great deal on the trade-in, plus additional discounts. Took just 3 day to get it. Unboxed it in the store, everyone in the store stop by for look. Staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested.

Gretsch G6122-1952

By WALTER POWERS

from El Sobrante, Ca.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

I was one of those that saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan but that lead me to ask for a Ludwig kit. All these years later (after switching to guitar at 15 and having accumulated many Gibson and Fenders thru the years) I first bought a Rickenbacker 350V63, then a Gibson 160E but I wouldn't buy the Gretsch because it is made in Japan. I decided to buy an old USA made Gretsch and have it refinished. I called Fender to see how much it would be to repair and refinish one. They said they didn't do it. A friend of mine (a Grammy winning artist) said that the Japan made guitars are better built so I went ahead and bought one of these. What a nice guitar! It plays very well, has great tone and is beautiful. I only gave it four stars because it's Japanese.

Country Gent...What a Dream

By Rich Bell NYC

from New York, NY

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

I am a professional musician who uses a array of guitars. None of these guitars compare to the sound and tone quality of this Country Gent. I use a Vox AC30 for live shows, and boy this guitar just gives you the feeling that you are in heaven. Playability is perfect! Intonation perfect! Finish and hardware all prefect. This guitar is actually made better that the original US made which always had neck set problems, and binding problems. I just can't say enough about how great this guitar is!

BEST EVER

By John Hofmann

from West Valley, New York

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

Back in the mid 60's I was a rythmn player for a group. Our lead guitarist played a Country Gentleman and the tone and quality was no. 1. Finally longing all these years I finally was able to get the money. Now I know why back in the 60's this was the guitar to have. I have many guitars since then but none compare to the Country Gentleman. Sure its not made in America but was is now adays. Go try yourself and you will see what I mean. My hat is off to the folks at Gretsch.

What a Dream

By Dr. Dave

from Chicago, Illinois

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

The Gretsch Country Gentleman is a dream. It is one of the cleanest sounding guitars I have ever played. If you are into the actual sound of a hollow bodied electric guitar, without mucking it up with effects, this is the guitar for you. It is the perfect compliment to my Teli, LP and Fender Accoustic Electrics. Beatles forever. Dr. Dave

Country Gentleman meets all my expectations!

By Bob The Guitar Player

from Springfield, MA

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

I have dreamed of owning a guitar like George Harrison's since the 60's. Finally got it. Finish, fretwork, and hardware are all beautifully perfect and work! Beautiful neck, straight as an arrow. I removed the cheap, wimpy strings the guitar came with and loaded it with Gibson Vintage Reissue 11's (I tried 10's and the guitar's sound was lifeless). Had to tap the unpinned bridge into place to set the intonation and it seems to be staying in place..although I'm pretty careful about that. Played my first gig with it last night. Really nice Gretsch tone..exactly what I expected (I had owned a Brian Setzer Nashville for about a year). It's heavy and huge, but I suspect I'll get used to it and my dream is fulfilled. I have no criticisms of this guitar. It may be foreign made but it's as good as my American ES-335, Les Pauls and Strats and I will gig with it regularly. Go and get one!

The best guitar made

By JayeKaye

from jupiter fl

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. It is the sweet spot for tone. I added tv jones pickups but the pickups that come with it are also great. If you don't believe me go to youtube and put in gretsch country gentleman as your search and watch and listen to all the videos of this timeless instrument. If you want that Johnny Marr or Setzer sound this is your ticket if you've got the skills and chops and fingers to make the magic. Puts any strat, les paul, ort tele to shame when it comes to tone. This is not a good guitar for metal but then again a good player can get a nosiy metal guitar cheap because metal is easy to play. This is an instrument for a real guitarist who can play. Any decent guitarist can play metal easily but 9 out of ten good metal guiatrists couldn't touch the tone and skills of Johnny Marr, Setzer etc. I love metal but my ibanez prestige can't get you that "sound" which this guitar can. A must have for a musician.
