The G5655T-CB Electromatic Center-Block Electric Guitar features "That Great Gretsch Sound" with the "center-block advantage." The interior solid spruce center block running the length of the guitar's 1-¾"-deep Double Jet body makes for a lively "high gain-friendly" tone and delivers greater control over the kind of feedback players want. The new dual-coil Super HiLo'Tron neck pickup is voiced to produce a clean, high-end sparkle with robust low-end, low-noise performance. Together with the "Black Top" Filter'Tron bridge pickup, it's a potent tonal combination.

Other premium features include five-ply maple body construction with a bound arched top and back, a bound maple neck and a 12.5"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and Neo-Classic "thumbnail" inlays. The G5655T-CB also has three-way pickup switching, single-ply black pickguard with Gretsch logo, four "G-arrow" control knobs (volume for each pickup, bridge-pickup-only tone, master volume), anchored Adjusto-matic bridge and flat-handle Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato, Grover tuners and knurled strap retainer knobs. Case sold separately.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5655T Electromatic Center Block Electric guitar:

This is a fabulous guitar in all aspects. I have a custom wired Eric Johnson Strat and a PRS, so it gives me a fresh new tone to my overall sound. It's price seems too hard to believe for what you are getting. I play it thru a hand wired custom made Deluxe Reverb and it really nails the vintage tones of the late 50's and 60's. This hollow body rather than the less expensive chambered model brings in more warmth staying true to the Gretsch tone and very much the same as the high end ones. The neck is a little long and heavy ended however so I need to be careful to watch that I am not playing up 2 frets, especially going from my PRS. It has a bit of a scoop in the tone but you can dial back some sparkle and chime to get a more fat tone but it is not like the fat PRS tone. More P90 ish with no noise. When listening to the whole band, the clarity of this guitar tone and soul really comes forward. Like what my strat can do, but warmer. It's in it's own league. Not for a novice player that likes a lot of heavy distortion to cover up mistakes. Your playing will stand out. So many bands sound similar in tone and I really wanted to integrate those almost forgotten whammy surf tones into the predictable modern music tones for a unique blend of the old and new.

    Great Guitar

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5655T Electromatic Center Block Electric guitar:

I purchased this guitar about a year ago. The first thing I noticed was how well it was constructed. I have owned many guitars over the years and this Gretsch is one of the best that I have owned. If you like Les Paul's than you will love the neck on this guitar - smooth action and plays like a champ. At the time of my purchase - I only had pictures and reviews to go by - none in stores. I actually had to purchase the guitar first - Guitar Center told me that if I did not like the Gretsch I could obtain a full refund. I also purchased a Fender American Strat a month prior to this purchase. For me it was my first Strat. I love the tones and twang of the American Strat but the neck is a bit thin for my fingers - simply a physical obstacle (still love the Strat though). Seriously the Gretsch G5655T is perhaps one of the best buys in a guitar that a person could make - and for under $1000 - you can not go wrong. I highly recommend this guitar and if you desire a Les Paul and simply can not afford the $2000 or so for a good one - this Gretsch is absolutely a great deal.

Looks great, plays decent, sounds okay.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5655T Electromatic Center Block Electric guitar:

Feels a little dinky because of the chambered body I guess. Neck feels pretty good and the Bigsby is fun. It looks great. Unfortunately, I found the pickups to be very dark and murky. When I rolled the volume knob back a bit, it became even murkier. Unfortunately, this guitar is not for me.
