Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435TG-BLK-LTD16 Limited Edition Electromatic Pro Jet with Bigsby and Gold Hardware Solidbody Electric Guitar:

I use this guitar for blues and 60's style music. The guitar was great right out of the box do not even have to have it set up. The action and tone quality is really good. Lot of people question Gretsch because of were they are made but I noticed lately Gibson is really bring out poor quality product at a much higher cost. Every Gibson I bought needed some type of adjustment. Would highly recommend Gretsch to anyone. Talked to a person yesterday at GC and he was looking at a Gibson 335 and told him to check out a Gibson Streamline he was so impressed with the guitar he plans to get one so my recommendation to everyone if you want a great guitar at a great price check out Gretsch's line of guitars.

A rough start, but a great finish

      • Just about anything you'd want a 6-string to do!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435TG-BLK-LTD16 Limited Edition Electromatic Pro Jet with Bigsby and Gold Hardware Solidbody Electric Guitar:

Purchased off the wall at a local Guitar Center, the setup was so bad that the guitar was unplayable off the wall. No neck relief and the strings were barely a 1/16" off of the 12th fret. Based on what sounds I could get off of it, the intonation was way off. But seeing the promise in the instrument, it was time to play "Let's Make A Deal" and bring this bad boy home.

A strong positive was that the frets were nicely leveled as well as the fret ends nicely rounded and polished. Nicely done for this price point. After going through a complete setup (bridge height, neck relief, intonation, nut was nicely done and needed no attention) it was time to plug this tone monster in and see what if could do. Plugging into my hand wired Vox AC30 with Celestion Blue speakers, it was very easy to push the amp into a slight overdrive just by "diming" all the volume controls. With the master volume rolled back, the output was clear, clean, and articulate. You could clearly hear every note of a strummed chord. And this is a tone monster. Dependent upon how you set the controls, you can take your tone from Jazz, to Rockabilly, oldies rock, classic rock, contemporary country, heck, just about whatever you want.

The bottom line is that this guitar looks, plays, and sounds well above its price point. This would have been a 5-star review except for the fact that the off the wall setup was so far off. The Manager of the Guitar Center where I made the purchase did his best to try and convince me that the setup was perfect. But when even he could not get a clean buzz-free note out of the guitar, well, he knew he was not going to be able to convince me (55 year of gigging experience) that the guitar was perfect off of the wall.

Buy one, you'll like it. Just make sure that the setup is reasonable and to your liking.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435TG-BLK-LTD16 Limited Edition Electromatic Pro Jet with Bigsby and Gold Hardware Solidbody Electric Guitar:

The guitar was set up nicely right out of the box but like all new guitar hard to find one with the intonation set right. Will be keeping this guitar for along time has the ability to play all style music.
