Great guitar, well made, and a great value

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422T Electromatic Double Cutaway with Bigsby Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Having owned two Gretsch guitars from the 60s, I found this model to be a great substitute at a very reasonable price. The tone and handling of the guitar is perfect for my playing style, and I am impressed by the quality of the construction and the color. It really is a beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I'd love the back pad from my Country Gent and Nashville, but you can't have everything. The electronics seem very clean and the tone control transitions smoothly. Overall, love it.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422T Electromatic Double Cutaway with Bigsby Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I ordered this online as an open box item. Picked up in store, beautiful guitar, no flaws cosmetically. Strings had no tension on them when it arrived (who knows for how long), bringing to tune resulted in some string buzzes. Guitar tech on site tried to adjust, but still buzzy. Got it home it still have some buzz, but it is better after loosening truss rod. Plays great, sounds great. Will probably have it professionally set up after I wear out these strings.

Wonderful guitar but some quality control issues

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5422T Electromatic Double Cutaway with Bigsby Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Great guitar and amazing value but has some quality control issues: there was a knife cut on the f-hole binding went all the way into the wood, and the bridge was overly angled. Being angled isn't unusual but I couldn't get it to be both well intonated and buzz free - and tuning stability was poor (even after setup and breaking in the bigsby and strings for a few weeks). Also, the neck was bent backwards and needed quite a bit of truss rod adjustment out of the box. So I bought a second one. The second had the same truss rod issue but was much more stable after setup and no mars on the binding. However, there was a three inch crack in the maple top stemming from the bridge pin buried under the gloss. The crack wasn't through and was just cosmetic, but it would still impact resale I imagine. If you can get a good one, it is wonderful to play and sounds terrific - but I would suggest finding one in a brick and mortar to check the details yourself if possible.
