Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5420T Electromatic Single Cut Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar. I am ashamed as a professional musician with over 30 years of playing experience , whom has managed Music Stores selling high-end and vintage guitars , A Certified FENDER Technician who has worked at Guitar Center spent almost $1000.00 (with case- just HAD to have the "cool" case) on an absolute piece of garbage . Let me Qualify if this review will be of benefit to you - I am not a "guitar snob" I simply know where and what to look for in a PROFESSIONAL Instrument . This IS NOT one in my opinion. I would not consider gigging with this guitar. That Said, I will add this: IF you think "Epiphone" (pick most any model) is a suitable, fun and affordable guitar that meets your needs you will disagree with my opinion - but you'll also like this guitar. We now live in a world where bright and shiny are more related to peoples reviews and opinions about guitars than the actual quality. "It is what it is" sums up this overpriced purchase. The guitar is stunning in photographs and in the store it attracts attention like a Cadillac . I made my mistake this way. A few honest and real issues those of you who are on the fence might like to know before you buy ; 1). the hardware (all of it) is terrible quality, it has the feel of plastic painted gold (and in many cases is) Beware of thinking because it looks vintage-it must be like vintage - perfect example are the tuners on the guitar. At first glance attractive "Waverly" looking gears - "pot" metal absolutely useless. The bridge is the same way, it rattles and sounds terrible it also feels incredibly cheap. The "tusk"(ish) nut doesn't fit all the way across the neck, as if no one ever checked the dimensions to see if they even match. These are pre-fabricated parts, the dimensions don't change. Its not a "bad-set-up" , the parts just don't fit. If you keep the guitar you'll want to change all of these parts immediately.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5420T Electromatic Single Cut Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Used to have a Country Gentelman in the 60's when I was much younger. This is my first Gretsch hollowbody since and it brings back fond memories. Smooth and Playable; and the Gold Hardware makes it look rich indeed.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5420T Electromatic Single Cut Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

As a rhythm & acoustic player, I've always wanted a Gretsch semi hollow body for it's richness in sound, reminiscent of early Beatles, Chet Atkins & Brian Setzer, to name a few. The appointments of the gold trim on the black body, the Bigsby tremolo bar and multiple pickup, tone & volume controls make for a handsome looking and beautiful sounding electric at an extremely affordable price.

The 5420T Has That Gretsch Sound

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5420T Electromatic Single Cut Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I am a bedroom player and have always loved the deep DE tones and the jingly rockabilly tones that Gretsch guitars are capable of doing. I couldn't afford a G6120 so researched what else could get that tone for me, and plugged into my Fender 62 Twin reissue this one comes really close. I am happy with my choice. This guitar is beautiful, well made and very playable. It will be a keeper.
