Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5420LH Electromatic Hollowbody Left Handed Electric Guitar:

Great... right out of the box. Set up was perfect. Just tuned it up and it's ready to gig. Extremely playable instrument. Light, comfortable and easy to handle. Best of all, easy to get that iconic Gretsch sound. Makes my Marshall amp just sing it's heart out.

It's also real easy on the eyes: A well-made, beautifully appointed instrument. Paint and finish are perfect. Appointments are no-frills, just the basics. But they are genuine Gretsch and good quality.

I guess it's pretty obvious I feel in love with it immediately. It's an amazingly serious guitar for the price. I should probably store it for an investment. But, it's just irresistible... Have to play it.

Thank you Gretsch and thank YOU, Guitar Center!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5420LH Electromatic Hollowbody Left Handed Electric Guitar:

I'll start with my biggest complaint--the thing does not come with a Bigsby. For the exact same money, the right handed model comes with a Bigsby and more color options. So, I had to buy a separate Bigsby and have it fitted. Not a huge deal, but it brings the cost of the guitar up $200 over the RT hand model. Now for the positive: I went to Guitar Center convinced I'd buy the black one, but the orange stain was just gorgeous. Ugly in the photo, but amazing and rich looking in person. I had to order it lefty, of course, and the Bigsby separate, so it took around 2 weeks to get mine in my hands. First impression is that the one at the store was no fluke--the color, fit and finish is perfect. Plugging in I'm amazed at how light the fingerboard is. My other guitar is an old Les Paul and it just feels heavy and clunky in comparison. This Gretsch is bright and crisp up and down. I found no "dead spots" or noticeable "sweet spot" like I normally would hear--you know, that place on the neck were the sound is just better. Pickups sound great, the set up is perfect. It's a classic Gretsch sound, as hoped for. The higher strings give a lot more pop than I expected and tend to overwhelm the lower notes when playing full cords. I haven't found a way yet to soften that up a bit. But if you're into jazz, blues, slide, and rockabilly, it's spot on for you. Don't let the price mislead you--this is a lot of guitar for the money.
