Overview

The exhilarating G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway is designed for three simple things: high gain-friendly performance, slick, easy playability and spectacular style. A sleek music machine, the G2655T cranks out the hits with updated features while staying true to That Great Gretsch Sound! thats been a vital component of rock n' roll since its inception.

The secret to the Streamliners sound is two-fold: the BroadTron humbucking pickup and the spruce center block. Specifically designed by the expert engineers at Gretsch for the Streamliner, the high-output BroadTron pickup spawns robust lows, pristine highs and a throaty midrange for a unique tone that blends well with other instruments in a band context. A lightweight spruce center block runs the length of the body, reinforcing the top while eliminating undesired feedback for volume-friendly performance on modern stages.

The Streamliners sonic power is harnessed and shaped by the traditional control layout, neck and bridge pickup volume controls, a master tone control, master volume control and three-way pickup switching. Add some shimmer and expression to your playing with the Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato tailpiece while the Adjusto-matic bridge with anchored base and synthetic bone nut grant astounding tuning stability and accurate, slip-free intonation. A fast-playing 12-radius rosewood fingerboard with elegant pearloid block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound neck with a thin U-shaped profileideal for chord work or fiery riffing.

All the classic eye-catching style youve come to expect from Gretsch is here: vintage-style black control knobs, F Holes, elegant two-ply white and black body binding, slick-looking nickel hardware, single-ply black pickguard with Gretsch logo and arched laminated maple construction. Easy to play while rocking out thanks to its smaller body, G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway with Bigsby is a phenomenal instrument for the modern musician who wants to control the stage and the audience while standing out from the pack.

Full disclosure-I've always played Fender (strats, teles,Jazzmaster) so the "con" is more aesthetics not function. WARNING - if you play it you'll buy it. I was in GC w/ my 8yr old daughter to get her an acoustic. I had ZERO intention of buying a new guitar. I saw the G2655 on showroom floor while she was trying various models. The looks are killer so I sat down & picked her up. Owned 2 semi-hollow Thinline Tele & Epi-ES335. this is a complete 180 from both. Filler, warmer sound from Tele & compact size from 336. I gave her a spin thru a small 10-15w static amp at standard settings no tube screamer or blues o/d pedals. I was blown away. I traded in Epi ES-335. The BroadTron pups are as described by Gretsch-throaty. I couldn't be happier Gretsch did an amazing job AND on a budget -1st Gretsch = 1st love feeling. She was ready to go after a very slight intonation fix.

I ordered this guitar online. A local store Mgr.called they were fulfilling from his store the guitar was excellent but unboxed,( kudos to the mgr.). I said ok if it included all the paperwork. He said no they throw them away, nobody ever wants them! (Really warranty card, use care and adjustment guide, adjustment wrenches, etc.) seems pretty important stuff that nobody would want? Seems to be same at all local stores in my area. How would the consumer know they don't want what they never get to see, and who took the poll? I said no I wanted one in box with all the included papers etc. Came from another local store in box with wrenches still no warranty and use papers. I don't think manufactures would go to the expense of including these things if they didn't feel them important and necessary. Guitar needs a policy change! The consumer should receive everything packaged and intended by the manufacturer for the purchaser. Let the purchaser decide.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway with Bigsby:

I went into the store to look at amps. Therefore, I went to try and find a guitar I would like to play on some amps. I just happened to look at this guitar and thought, "Oh, a cheap Gretsch, that will be good to test with." I started playing the guitar on a few amps, and the more and more I played the guitar I kept thinking, "D*mn, this plays nice." I eventually begin to think, "I must have this guitar." However, I never buy guitars at the store (refusing to implies buy) so I left. As I continued my weekend shopping, I could not stop thinking about the Gretsch. Nonetheless, 30 minutes before Guitar Center closes, I rush back to the store and purchase the guitar. It was the best thing I have ever done.

This is not a biased-review (despite what you may think) because upon playing the guitar initially, and thinking about how good it was, I started to try and find things I didn't like about it. I could not find one. Hence, let this review be a warning to you. You will want this guitar; for the price, the quality and sound there are very few better than this.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway with Bigsby:

I currently own a vintage Telecaster and decided I wanted to try some newer more aggressive guitars at Guitar Center. After trying out multiple PRS, Epiphone, Sterling, Jackson, Fender, Ibanez and a few other solid body guitars, I was about to give up on getting a new guitar. All of these guitars (all in the $550 - $650 range) seemed to have poor sound quality, poor feel, or bad intonation. In all fairness to these guitar brands - some of this (especially the intonation) was probably due to the obvious fact that Guitar Center had not done a basic setup on any of these guitars (shame on you Guitar Center). A couple of these guitars were totally unplayable because they wouldn't stay in tune beyond the 4th fret.... Just as I was about to get frustrated and walk out the door I saw the Gretsch G2655T hanging on the wall and really liked the smaller center block/hollow body look. So...I gave it a try and BAM! What a guitar - sounds great, the intonation was almost perfect out of the box, and the action was just right (at least for me). To put it mildly - it was love at first touch.

Even though I was looking for something "more aggressive" this guitar was just too good to pass up - especially for the price. After having owned it for about a month I can say without reservation that this is one great guitar and it has the chops to play everything from classic hard rock to blues/jazz. Gretsch really did a great job with the G2655T. Do yourself a favor and try one out and when you do be sure to bring your checkbook as you will want to buy it.

Where to begin.... This guitar sounds wonderful. It looks fantastic. The 25.5 scale is easy to get around on. I've never been happier about any purchase I've ever made. I also own a PRS SE custom 24, which is a tremendous guitar that cost about $200 more, and I find myself grabbing the Streamliner every time. For the first time in my guitar-playing life, I actually bought guitar polish. I sit in a corner, gently stroking the fine wood and whispering to my Gretsch: "Does it wants me to plays it? Does it wants me to polishes its woodses?"

I purchased this gretsch 4 days ago and I always wanted to buy a gretsch every since I first played a white falcon and fell in love with gretsch. The guitar it self has amazing craftsmanship and sound and feel. The only thing I had a problem with was fert buzz but I tightened the screws on the bridge and I had a lot less fret buzz. But all in all a steal for the price strongly recommend.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway with Bigsby:

I started my playing journey on Tenor Uke and then Baritone...so I always remain fond of the smaller cased instruments. The Streamliner is light and compact but can snarl with the best of them, yet keeping the warmth we expect from a semi-hollow body. The guitar was surprisingly mellow on jazz (neck pickup only) and could also 'twang' like you were the next Brian Setzer. Adding the Bigsby (which seems oversized on a mid size instrument) is just the icing on the cake. Tremendous value for the price...plus I used Guitar Center Bucks from a prior purchase to make the deal even sweeter.

Could have used a case, however....

so far sounds great in my garage but hopefully expanding on that. fret board is perfect out of the box! simply beautiful, and plays as well. born for the blues or even jazz. even though it's very light the tones are there. only draw back is finger picking, it's hard to keep volume even. maybe hotter pickups?
