Comments about Gretsch Guitars FSR Two-Tone Electromatic Double Jet Electric Guitar:

Was skeptical ordering a guitar online but this thing is amazing. Great workmanship, solid, smooth feel. Sounds and plays as good as it looks. Took it out of the box and played it in rehearsal without needing a single adjustment!

You can get any kind of sound out of this guitar. The chambered body inside this guitar really makes it ring. Very easy to play and worth the money. The finish on this body is amazing. I never got so many compliments on a guitar!!! Just a beautiful guitar!

By far the best guitar in this budget

Comments about Gretsch Guitars FSR Two-Tone Electromatic Double Jet Electric Guitar:

The only guitar I've ever purchased without getting to test it out first (they don't carry this one in store). I waited about a month for it to arrive due to being back ordered, but it was worth the wait.

The fit and finish of every single inch of this guitar is perfect. I don't know how typically American made guitars can command such high prices these days when China is producing truly amazing guitars for less than half the price. There are NONE of the small inconsistencies or flaws you used to find on import guitars back in the 90's and early 2000's. The hardware isn't made of the best metals, but you really need to be a cork-sniffing snob to tell, because it's all perfectly finished and fit to the guitar.

The look: It's simply gorgeous to see. My only wiggle is that it's not really "surf green" as you would expect. Hanging next to my actual surf green strat, it appears more sea-foam than surf. But when the guitar is standing alone, you never doubt the color and it's still beautiful anyway. The binding on the neck isn't as pure-bleached-white as the paint on the back of the body/neck, but that's because pure-white binding doesn't exist.

Playability: what can I say? If you haven't played an Electromatic in the last 10 years, you're missing out. They have nice, fat necks with a 12" radius and the action is fantastic. From the first to the last fret on every string; no buzz, no dying notes. The guitar is lightweight and comfortable.

And most importantly, the sound: do you realize this one comes with the same pickups in their professional guitars? I can't stress this enough: they are OUTSTANDING. These are head and shoulders the best pickups you'll get in a Gretsch guitar for less than 2k. Even most of their guitars above that price range come with these same pickups. The unwound strings are chimey and the wound are thick.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars FSR Two-Tone Electromatic Double Jet Electric Guitar:

Took it out of the box and plugged it in, tuned up, and started jamming. Setup was spot on, and all it needs are some better strings, but for out of the box, it's impressive. While the whole guitar has a feel of quality, it's the pickup's that really shine. The neck pup has great depth with a solid authority to hold down any rhythm part. Flip to the bridge pickup and soaring highs with a jangle to them come ripping through your amp, all while not washing out the bottom end. If I had a complaint about this fine instrument, it would be it's weight. It's hefty, like a Les Paul. That said, the mahogany chambered body does allow great sustain, so the trade off is worth it. In the end, if something happened to it or someone stole it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another to replace it, so I guess that says it all really.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars FSR Two-Tone Electromatic Double Jet Electric Guitar:

So I've had my eye on this little gem for a while. I love the color combo, and I knew the wife wouldn't even be mad because of it. The price point is a bit high for what you actually get, and I was expecting the opposite. Again looks are to be praised, great color and plastic choices. The pickups are hotter and better sounding than expected as well. Tuners are surprisingly goods, and the neck wood looks good. However I HATE that is INKED up with made in CHINA, it looks disgusting and is a constant reminder of what is wrong with the guitar. Even with neck binding it is the worst fret job of any of my guitars regardless of price. Neck needs more relief than normal and action higher than desired to hopefully get rid of fret buzz (because I haven't been able to yet). It has that cheap gritty dragging grindy feel across a lot of frets/fret board. The electronics are cheappp and so are the knobs, actually I should just say all the hardware is cheap except the tuners. Bridge looks cheap, and the finish looks cheaper. The nut is garbage, like the cheapest of cheap. I don't normally write reviews, but for this low midpoint price range I definitely expected more in quality especially since it was Chinese and therefore even lower manufacturing cost. The reason I write this review is because all of my complaints actually affect play ability. It looks good and sounds good, and I can get over some sloppy stuff like a wobbly pickup selector but when it plays cheap it is cheap. Which bring me to my last point. The neck joint starts at the 12th fret, maybe the 13th which basically makes the last 10 frets very hard to get to with the thickness of the body and neck in the way. On a dual cutaway guitar that is absolutely stupid. I have $2k jazzboxes with better access. Truly poor design on a thin body dual cutaway. The guitar is also heavy, like les paul traditional heavy, which is odd for a supposedly chambered basswood body...but I kind of like that.

This was my first Gretsch. I exchanged it for a black one because I thought I might get tired of the color (even though I liked it).
