NEW REVIEW - What a Dream

The Gretsch Country Gentleman is a dream. It is one of the cleanest sounding guitars I have ever played. If you are into the actual sound of a hollow bodied electric guitar, without mucking it up with effects, this is the guitar for you. It is the perfect compliment to my Teli, LP and Fender Accoustic Electrics. Beatles forever. Dr. Dave

Country Gentleman meets all my expectations!

I have dreamed of owning a guitar like George Harrison's since the 60's. Finally got it. Finish, fretwork, and hardware are all beautifully perfect and work! Beautiful neck, straight as an arrow. I removed the cheap, wimpy strings the guitar came with and loaded it with Gibson Vintage Reissue 11's (I tried 10's and the guitar's sound was lifeless). Had to tap the unpinned bridge into place to set the intonation and it seems to be staying in place..although I'm pretty careful about that. Played my first gig with it last night. Really nice Gretsch tone..exactly what I expected (I had owned a Brian Setzer Nashville for about a year). It's heavy and huge, but I suspect I'll get used to it and my dream is fulfilled. I have no criticisms of this guitar. It may be foreign made but it's as good as my American ES-335, Les Pauls and Strats and I will gig with it regularly. Go and get one!

The best guitar made

This guitar is amazing. It is the sweet spot for tone. I added tv jones pickups but the pickups that come with it are also great. If you don't believe me go to youtube and put in gretsch country gentleman as your search and watch and listen to all the videos of this timeless instrument. If you want that Johnny Marr or Setzer sound this is your ticket if you've got the skills and chops and fingers to make the magic. Puts any strat, les paul, ort tele to shame when it comes to tone. This is not a good guitar for metal but then again a good player can get a nosiy metal guitar cheap because metal is easy to play. This is an instrument for a real guitarist who can play. Any decent guitarist can play metal easily but 9 out of ten good metal guiatrists couldn't touch the tone and skills of Johnny Marr, Setzer etc. I love metal but my ibanez prestige can't get you that "sound" which this guitar can. A must have for a musician.
