Excellent craftsmanship, vibe, and playability. Note that this is one of the few large Gretsch's that have single coils. Also note that it's not an 'open' hollowbody but a closed f-hole hollowbody which is key playing on stage (eliminates feedback). The Hi-Lo tron pickups are really outstanding in terms of balancing treble and bass. If you strike a chord without any effects, you can hear the shimmer in the sound curve...Gretsch's jangle. Look deep into the Gretsch website, the Hi-Lo trons are actually made by TV Jones but they don't list it on the specs. What you have is a big, well rounded single coil sound...a sound that I always wanted in my telecaster single coils but couldn't get. The large Gretsch body certainly helps attain this big sound. The roller bar bridge is key in getting that glassy tone and coupled with the Grover Tuners it surprisingly stays in tune for great lengths of time. Cons: The bigsby is a pain to restring, but worth it to have the tremelo capability. Don't worry about this axe not having a tone knob, you don't need it. With three volume knobs (master included) you can dial in the right sound. I play many various styles and never had a problem with too much treble or bass. Moreover, the tone toggle switch allows for 3 types of tone. Supercool.
Can't say enough about the craftsmanship. Truly a high-end guitar.
