Unsafe at any speed.

Buckle up boys and girls, because this CVT will take you on a ride to the wild side of Gretsch guitars. Mega'Tron pickups howl at the wind, and the ultra slim design means you can take this baby on the go! Made in response to the numerous electric guitar players who have requested a contemporary version of this short-lived model from the 1960s, the G5135 Electromatic CVT guitar combines modern features with retro styling into one instrument that is truly built for speed.

The ultraslim, solid mahogany body is lightweight and easy to shoulder, without sacrificing the unique, biting tonal properties for which mahogany is known. Additional features include a set mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets, adjustable truss rod, an anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and Bigsby B50 tailpiece, dot position markers, pearloid headstock inlays, black pickguard, chrome plated hardware, vintage style tuners and G-Arrow knobs.

  • Great sound

As reviewed by Dustin Vincent on 6/12/2010

The Gretsch Electromatic is my 6th guitar, and is perhaps now my favorite. Overall light weight, and the neck feels natural in hand. The finished mahogany neck inhibits ultra fast shredding, and the Bigsby tremelo will bend the strings slightly out of tune if frequently used. The MegaTron pickups sound amazing when playing blues and classic rock songs with rich warm tones. Add a little distortion and it still sounds clear and warm. However, crank up the distortion and the sound gets a bit muddy, so metal heads beware. I replaced the strings not too long ago and the Bigsby really makes things frustrating with the use of short hooks to hold the string ends in place. The bottom line: Great guitar if you're looking for a clean/lightly distorted blues sound. String replacement is frustrating, and leaves something to be desired in the heavy distortion department.

  • Great little slim guitar!!!

As reviewed by guitarcookie on 9/13/2006

This is a terrific guitar for the price. It's got a very slim body that feels like an SG, and light as a feather, even though it's solid mohagany. The neck plays comfortably and frets are wide enough for my over-sized fingers. The humbucker pickups are awesome: very active, clear and punchy. The Bigbsy vibrato works like a charm. I've had no problems with the strings going out of tune. This is a great little guitar. Very versatile and just a lot of fun to play. It's got a shape and vibe like no other guitar out there, and definitely attracts attention. Get one. You won't regret it!

  • Unbelievable

As reviewed by guitarman1 on 1/12/2007

I used to use an Epiphone Les Paul but it was so heavy. I had dropped it at least 6 times. This guitar is alot more comfortable and light as a feather but still has a great sound to it. This is without a doubt my best guitar purchase ever.
