• Versatile Kit with Warm Sound

  I bought this kit while waiting for a custom Yamaha kit, and this has become my favorite kit for jazz and gigging. I have used it for jazz combo gigs, big band gigs, worship leading and teaching. The mahogany gives the drums a warm sound regardless of how they are tuned, making them effortless to mic. It also gives the drums a low fundamental pitch potential despite the small sizes. The small sizes and warm resonance make this drum set quieter than standard sets. It's perfect for playing small rooms or stages where leaking makes miking a challenge. The snare drum is, predictably, a major weakness. The throw is cheap, but functional, and the mahogany shell isn't conducive to the all-important crack of a snare drum. The rack tom has 5 lugs, but it's not too hard to tune thanks to die-cast rims. The bass drum gets a wonderfully deep, warm resonant sound when dampened minimally. I use no pillow inside, one moon gel on the resonant head and a 1.5"x10" strip of felt taped across the bottom of the batter head.

  Hey folks, I got this kit used in white pearl and absolutely LOVE it. I use it for every style, from rock to jazz to funk and blues. I also use this kit at a bar every tuesday at a jam night which i'm in the house band. Many different drummers and styles get played on my set and they love it. All you gotta do is mic the kick! Next paycheck im picking up this copper sparkle kit at my local GC for my band's rehearsal space. The copper sparkle looks stunning in person! Hope this helps =]

  I have this kit in Satin Natural. It came very well packed in two small boxes. Fit and finish is absolutely flawless. Edges are smooth and feel even - I had no issues tuning the 5 lug mounted tom. The heads look like Evans G1's - I changed them to G2's and get a nice warm round note. I put an Evans genera dry on the snare and that made the most appreciable difference. I have no complaints about the hardware - the ball mount is secure and the tuning lugs, tom legs and more importantly bass drum riser all have crisp rubber gaskets and work smoothly. Much nicer than the more expensive DDrum maple kit that preceded it, for less money! I added DW 6000 hardware and meinl extra dry byzance cymbals for an easy to haul beat machine!
