Small, Sweet, but Expensive

I bought this tom to match my Gretsch Catalina Birch kit, and it is one of the most satisfying drums I own. It's fairly high pitched, but it fits in suprisingly well with my other fusion sized toms (10", 12", and 14" floor). The other thing I began to notice was that it worked nicely in various playing situations. Not only did it add a Latin feel to jazzier stuff, but it really stepped up to the plate with more upbeat punk fills. The only frustration I've had with it so far is the tuning. It occasionally goes out of tune with heavy usage, and when I retune, it takes a considerably shorter amount of time to get back out of tune. It is also a bit pricey for a small 8" tom, but I definitely think it is worth the purchase. I recommend that you change the batter head immediately for a dramatic promotion in tone, and also make sure you have enough to purchase the cymbal stand clamp as well.
