Overview

TUSQ XL Fender-Style Nut Curved Bottom Blank (PQL-1000-00) is a replacement nut for Fender guitars.

If you have an acoustic or vintage guitar, you owe it to yourself to hear the difference a TUSQ guitar replacement nut, saddle and bridge pins make. Compared to standard materials such as bone, Micarta or Corian, you'll hear more harmonics with every note you play when you use TUSQ on your guitar.

TUSQ is a proprietary material which is precision engineered under high pressure and heat. It is specifically formulated to deliver the right frequencies with the optimum transfer rate to the top of your guitar every time. Because of the way the TUSQ replacement nut is made, it is a consistent material that is rich in tone and harmonic content.

TUSQ has quickly become an important tone performance tool for some of the world's most renowned guitar manufacturers, luthiers and playing professionals. The TUSQ replacement nut has rich tone and sustain, without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ nuts, saddles and bridge pins are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body. Acoustic guitars come alive. Electric guitars will get a brighter sound and increased harmonic content.

Amazing technology yields an incredible transformation!

By Geoffrey Chiodi

from Stratford, NJ

GraphTech's TUSQ XL nuts and ResoMax NVS bridges are my secret weapon. Not only does the TUSQ material provide a permanent reduction in friction at the nut, it also enhances the tone and the "feel" of the guitar. It is very hard to put into words, however, the TUSQ allows added harmonics to ring out, whereas other nut materials deaden them entirely. The strings are granted a longer period of audible sustain and have a more stable feel. When TUSQ nuts are married to ResoMax bridges they combine to create the ultimate home for the span of your guitar strings. Ultra-low friction and harmonically enhanced, even to lesser ears. Even my "clueless" wife commented on how different the guitar sounded after installation. She thought I had bought a new guitar, because she had never heard that resonant tone come from the studio before. Such a small investment for such a dramatic improvement to tuning stability, harmonic content, and feel is an absolute no-brainer in my opinion. The pros love GraphTech for a reason, and so do I.

A Good Nut!

By TJ Nugent

from Oak Ridge, TN

I am very particular about tuning and to get good tuning and stay in tune you need good tuners, a good bridge, and a good nut. The Graphtek TUSQ Nut is the perfect nut. It is slippery and strings do not get hung up in it and cause you to go out of tune. If you spend the money on the guitar... and want to be able to get into tune and stay there after playing the guitar hard... Do yourself a favor, spend the money and get an an industry standard... The Graphtek Nut has proven itself over and over again. Let's face it. Factory, Stock, Cheap Nuts is where companies cheap out. It is always worth the upgrade to buy a good nut and a good set of tuners. It is also important, if you can't do it yourself, to have a competent guitar tech set up your axe for maximum playability.
