Reduces string breakage thanks to Teflon coating that eases the grip and stress while your play.

Graph Tech's String Saver Saddle for Tune-O-Matic Nashville Pre-2000 Gibson is made with a unique combination of materials made to enhance tone and dramatically reduce string breakage.

How do they work?
A string resting on a metal saddle binds and locks the string in place. As the string vibrates, it stresses the string on a very specific point producing metal fatigue and then string breakage. Each String Saver saddle is impregnated with Teflon, the slipperiest substance on earth. The Teflon in String Savers eases the grip between the saddle and string spreading the stress over a greater portion of the string just enough to drastically reduce string breakage. Teflon is 500% more slippery than graphite and is impregnated throughout the String Saver material, so its lubricating properties will never wear out. For string breakage reduction, the difference is dramatic. Strings will last and last, no matter how hard you play.

What do they sound like?
Metal saddles have a pronounced 2kHz treble spike that dominates the tonal spectrum. Like all the String Saver Originals from Graph Tech, the String Saver Saddle for Tune-O-Matic Nashville Pre-2000 Gibson has a more balanced tone with sizzling highs, full mids, and big, open lows. You will also notice an increase in sustain by up to 25% over brass saddles and 15% over steel.

String Saver Originals are made entirely of Graph Tech's String Saver material and as described above will give you a more balanced tone than steel saddles. On first listen, some people believe that the top end has gone away. However, once your ears get used to the new sound, you'll start to hear all the added harmonic content that String Saver saddles reveal. All that's missing is the 2kHz spike, but what's added opens up a whole new world of sonic possibilities!

  • Great Upgrade!!

As reviewed by STEPHEN AUGUSTINE on 1/22/2014

The saddles on my 79' LP Custom needed to be replaced when I purchased it. Of course it was nearly impossible to find anything in any local store for a direct replacement. GC had these in stock, so I figured I'd give it a shot before ordering the steel ones online. Bought them, installed them.... and it sounded really different. It no longer had that "metallic" tone when strummed acoustically. I was a little concerned that it really changed the tone. It played better w/ the Graph Tech's. A little "slinkier", if that makes any sense. I didn't notice any tonal difference after the install. I asked one of the guys I know up at GC (that is a smoking player) if he'd ever used them. He stated that he had GT's on all of his strats. He stated that if there was any tonal difference, it was nothing that couldn't be minimally EQ'd-out on his amp. I have a ton of guitars.... R9, R8, R7, and the list goes on. I got a little paranoid that maybe these saddles were affecting the tone. I purchased a replacement Tone Pros saddle to put it back to (almost) normal. Took about 5 minutes to realize that the Graph Tech saddles felt waaaay better! No more string breakage at the bridge, and the tone is great. Tone Pros is top notch too, but I was able to keep the original bridge w/ the GT saddles. I'd have no hesitation to put these on all of my guitars. Don't let the initial tone change after install make you believe that these are a tone changer. The guitar sounds great and has become my #1 amongst many higher $$ guitars, Great bang for the buck.

  • 1999 les paul upgrade

As reviewed by kevin on 12/31/2014

Needing to replace worn bridge saddles on my 1999 LP Standard, I did a lot of research on you tube and mostly on the Gibson Guitar Forum site. I heard the Graph Tech String Saver saddle being raved about countless times. I installed them and couldn't be happier. The richness in tone is great and at about $25 bucks a set, I would reccomend this upgrade to everyone.
