If you're like me you eat up sticks like a beaver. You play, they dent and chip, and then they eventually break. You get frustated and think to yourself; "Maybe I should get a pair of those Ahead sticks made out of hollow aluminum with the nylon tips?" First off those aren't real drumsticks, second they sound hollow on rim shots, and third they can bust your cymbals in half if you're a heavy hitter like me. It's all in how you play that makes your sticks last or not. The last time I bought a bundle of these sticks they lasted me a year and half and I was playing gigs all over Texas almost every night. I was using the 5A wood tip at the time, which by the way are just Vater's Los Angeles 5A sticks, and they sounded great but I was looking for something a little thinner and a little lighter so I came back to good ol' Musician's Friend and looked over their website and couldn't find anything, then I rembered using a pair of Vater's Manhattan 7A sticks once and liking them quite a bit. Even though I couldn't see what the model of 7A Goodwood was selling I took a chance. See Vater has two 7A models; the "Traditional 7A" with the acorn tip, and then their "Manhattan 7A" with the round ball tip. Well I just got them today and they're Vater's "Manhattan" 7A stick! I couldn't be more pleased. They immediately brought me back to my memories of Austin and the shows I had done there. The Manhattan 7A is thin enough to play Jazz, but also strong and rigid enough to play the heaviest of Rock music. You could even play a little Reggae, Country, or Blues too. It's an extremely versatile stick. If you're in the need for an abundant amout of sticks, and are on a tight budget, and need sticks that will last you a good long time, then go get yourself a pair of Goodwood drumsticks today, because I am telling you these sticks are the bomb no matter what pair you use! : )
Where else can you get one dozen sticks for this price?! This is a great deal for drummers on a tight budget, which the majority of us are almost always on. You can get either nylon or woodtip, which is what I use, and in your standard Vater 5B, Los Angeles 5A, Manhattan 7A, Rock, and Fusion models.
These sticks are made by Vater, so you know these sticks are going to last a good long while!
Again, the vaule is great because all other companies are selling a dozen sticks for much more!

The only reason I buy these is because I'm a cheap, and I play hard and break sticks a lot. I really wish NOVA made the fusion size drumsticks I desire because I would immediately but their brand instead (they are far more consistent and seem to be better quality, but they only have two sizes and I play an in between size). Goodwood is literally the poorest quality drumstick manufacturer I've ever dealt with. All the sticks are all bent and mismatched in weight, density, throw, and even in some cases width. Oh, and I've literally broken sticks within 20 mins worth of playing...UNACCEPTABLE!! Save yourself some time, if ANYONE else makes the size you are looking for, go there immediately and buy their product. I don't even know if half these reviews are legit because they are all suspiciously positive -.-

Comments about Goodwood 12-Pack Drumsticks:

I rejoiced when I discovered Goodwood sticks. This was long before Vater actually put their name on them, but as a long-time user of Vater's 5Bs, I knew what I had immediately. The form factor and feel is identical. And they're far superior to the Vic Firth equivalent (Nova). The fact of the matter is that these sticks are the "blemish" stock of standard Vaters. At best, some of them will have a weird color to the grain. At worst, as some commenters have mentioned, you'll have one that snaps on you right away. Most of the time, you'll know this sort of a dud when you take your first hit. I'd say 85-90% of the time for me, the sticks last until I've chewed them into splinters, and I hit HARD and never shy away from riding the rim on the snare.

Let's face it, even if you drop the full pop on a nice pair of ProMarks, you'll occasionally have a stick that explodes on you right out of the gate. If you can't handle that, you can try your luck with some metal Eastons. For my money, I'm all over the Goodwoods every time!

      Comments about Goodwood 12-Pack Drumsticks:

I have been using these for years for everything. I use the 5As. I have always preferred Vater - for me they have been the most durable, and once these came on the market, I picked up a 12 pack and keep coming back. No, they are not perfectly matched in weight, but that has never bothered me. I have never understood why some drummers obsess over this. Just grab a pair and have at it people. Vater durability at this price point for me is a no-brainer. My only complaint is that I wish they would add the Power 5As to the lineup.

      Comments about Goodwood 12-Pack Drumsticks:

I worked in music stores for many years and know that drumstick "seconds" can be a great value. I tried these because I use the Vater Manhattan 7A wood tip and wanted to find a bargain. Only half of the sticks in the brick are usable. I do not mind the blemishes at all. There are simply too many sticks that roll like bananas. I was able to put together 6 good pairs. I will give away the rest.

Good Wood is the right name for this stick.

      Comments about Goodwood 12-Pack Drumsticks:

I usually buy Regal Tip sticks and really like the way they feel in my hands. They are hard to beat but the price is getting too expensive. I needed an affordable alternative and these sticks are exactly that. I use stick wax which makes them feel much better in my hands and after getting used to a little different feel I must say I like them. They are straight, the wood is solid, and each pair is fairly consistent with the next. I will use the Regal Tip on gigs but for practising the Good Wood is the stick and I will buy more if they can keep the quality they currently have and the price afforadable.

          Comments about Goodwood 12-Pack Drumsticks:

These are lasting just as long as the normal Vater sticks I would use. These tend to have more "marble" in the wood grain, but I can't tell any difference in sound, feel, or longevity.

I've been using these for a couple of weeks. Well, one pair. Barely scratched. I'm not the most hard hitting drummer out there but by the looks of it, these things are super durable. And yes, do not hit a knuckle by accident. Thats all Im going to say. Very smooth surface also.
