Comments about Gon Bops Alex Acuna Signature Special Edition Cajon:

This cajon is expensive but definitely worth the money. For starters, it is very beautiful and the woodwork is incredible. The sound is great. I love the deep, booming bass because there is no snare buzz or rattle. The kick/snare sounds are great too, but it takes some practice to learn how to strike which place to get which sound. My best advice is to try this cajon in-store and see if it fits your style.

    excellent cajon!

Comments about Gon Bops Alex Acuna Signature Special Edition Cajon:

I purchased this cajon sight unseen after trying out some lower-mid-level ones in stock at Warwick GC store and I am AMAZED at how beautiful the aesthetics and sounds are!! It is definitely worth the extra money to go with this one versus some of the less expensive ones that I tried. The amount of snare is just right for how I like to play and the bass tone is surprisingly loud when you need it to be... Its astounding how much variety of sounds you can get from a single drum. I highly recommend this one!

    Beautiful finish and great sound

    By Fermin Baez

    from Kissimmee, FL

Comments about Gon Bops Alex Acuna Signature Special Edition Cajon:

When I got the Alex Acuna cajon I was blown away by how beautiful this instrument is. The wood grain, the polished finish, the details are just excellent, compared against the myriad of cajons available in the market. In terms of sounds, it really does have a deep bass sound in the middle, with minimal activation of the snare sound. The corners offer great snappy sounds. I only noticed two things that I didn't like: (1) the snare sound is not very strong nor sensitive and (2) adjusting the strings is anything but easy, as the front panel needs to be removed to gain access to the six screws that adjust each string individually. This is definitely just a matter of taste, as obviously many people enjoy the sound of the Alex Acuna Special Edition. For me personally wasn't was I was looking for as I wanted a stronger snare. But is a great cajon, well built and beautiful to look at.

    Definitely worth the money

    By Felipe Olivarez

    from McAllen, TX

Comments about Gon Bops Alex Acuna Signature Special Edition Cajon:

This is my first cajon and I will admit that i was a bit hesitant because of the price, but it is definitly worth it. I conducted extensive research on cajons; from the quality of wood to the actual make and/or design of the model and I found that that this cajon is the best option for your money. The way the strings are layed across the upper corners really allows the cajon to deliver a deep rich bass the simply is not matched by other cheaper models. Trust me, once you try this cajon you'll hear what i'm talking about. Where the snare sound may not be as profound as in other models that have the strings across the front of the plate, this cajon still delivers the snare and bass sounds you'll need for any jam session. My favorite thing about this cajon is that you get 3 distinct/separate sounds from the front plate and if you add a little techinique, the possibilities can be endless. The size and look of the cajon is beautiful and definitely looks much better in person that on the website. Hopefully this review helps in making the your decision, but if you still have some doubt you still have the option of returning it. That was the final deciding factor in my decision simply because i've never been able to find one in a store so i could test it out for myself. By the way, youtube videos do not do this cajon justice if you're checking for sound quality.

    Absolutely great!

    By James

    from San Diego, CA

Comments about Gon Bops Alex Acuna Signature Special Edition Cajon:

Apart from being a stunning instrument with the beautiful inlays, Gon Bops really went above and beyond with this cajon. The Peruvian Mohena gives it a very rich sound; even if you're playing outside it still gives off a great sound and doesn't have to compete with the other instruments. It has a definitively latin feel to it, but it still sounds right in most genres. Granted, it's a bit expensive depending on your experience level, but for the price, it's a fantastic instrument. To be honest, the only real drawback is the carrying bag, which feels a little like it can't support the weight of the cajon. I usually am taking it from my trunk to the stage, but if you were lugging it around, it would start to pull on your shoulder. The cajon itself gives a really consistent sound, which I appreciate. The Mohena feels really nice when playing, additionally. Overall, it's a good value for a spectacular instrument.
