Good for the price

By Keith

from Mesa, Arizona

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

I picked this guitar up with a promotional discount code and, with that, I think the Redline HB is worth the price. The 24 3/4" scale is different than what I'm used to, but nice to play. The neck is nice, as well as the fret work. The body finish is kinda blah, I'm really not too impressed by the looks of the natural flame model. I should have ordered the black one. The picture shows the built-in tuner on the volume knob, but mine did not have this feature. Very misleading. The stock pickups are actually pretty good. I would recommend this guitar for it's play-ability.

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

Okay, I buy, custom paint and sell guitars on the low end of the spectrum. (Why would you paint a high end guitar unless it was banged up?) I bought this guitar because my favorite guitarist, John McLaughlin, has two Godins in his top ten guitar list. Now, out of the gig bag, the Redline HB is a good but not great guitar. As previously alluded to in another review, this guitar could be improved with better tuners (I would pull a set of Grovers off of one of my five Schecters) and, as did John McLaughlin, pull the Godin pickups and go back in with Seymour Duncans. As such, for the money involved, a modified Godin Redline HB would be a well above average guitar. As is, it's a good guitar for not having paid an arm and a leg for it. I'll take a low end Godin over a low end Gibson or Fender any day.

Low Budget Luck of the Draw

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

This Godin Redline was defective. The pick-ups produced a lot of noise and the signal was very weak. Aside from the defective electronics, this guitar, while made in the U.S. & Canada, isn't terribly different from other brands of the same price range, such the one has the luck of the draw off the assembly line. The neck is on the narrow side, and other features are standard for the price range, nothing to get terribly excited about. Perhaps if the instrument hadn't been defective, I would have gotten caught up in a great sound. But it went right back in the box, alas. And this was the third guitar in a row that I had to return (assembly line luck of the draw again).

Very Nice for the Price!

By Doug-cbGG4

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

Nice guitar! Very nice fit and finish. Came setup well and intonated properly. Bridge pickup cuts through very nicely, kind of a mix of brightness mixed with a strong mid range. Neck pickup is good, but could be a little more contrasted from the bridge. Flame maple top is very beautiful. When you look at the cut for the pickup switch selector you can see the flame goes all the way down about an 1/8th of an inch. Not just a thin laminate, it actually has some thickness to it. I like this guitar and I highly recommend!

Very Nice Guitar

By Steven

from Beaumont Tx

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

Ok folks, let me give you my background I am 40, been playing since I was 15. I am a fanatic about quality in everything I buy. My wife says I research something for months before buying and this guitar was no exception. I can easily afford the big name brands, but I don't believe in paying for a name. After much research on this guitar, I made the call and ordered one. It came in the mail and I immediately went over it with a fine tooth comb, that was after I pick my jaw up from the floor, it is beautiful! Keep in mind for this price the tuners are not top notch but will work just fine, I may change them out later. The neck is the 16 inch radius, which I have never owned before, but it is so nice to run scales on. Unplugged, it sings. Bright, but not too much, but extremely musical. The back of the neck is satin and very nice to the touch. I have heard that the pickups which are passive on this model could use some improvement, but I always swap out stock pups for Seymour Duncans, which I will probably do soon. I own an American Strat and the frets on this guitar are as smooth as my Strat's which I am very happy about. I also own a import Epiphone Les Paul, which is nice for the money, but the Godin is much nicer construction and overall quality. So listen up Moms and Dads, this guitar would be an excellent first guitar that your new guitarist will never out grow. And listen up all you seasoned players, this guitar will please you as well. It would make an excellent primary stage guitar or a back up for the headstock snobs who have to have a major brand name on the headstock. Not saying this baby cannot hang with them, because I am sure it can. Overall, I highly recommend this guitar to anyone even remotely thinking of trying on of these out. Buy it, you will thank me.

Update

By Stevo0728

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

After plugging in, I find the pickups to be overall good, not as good as seymour duncans, but close enough for this price point. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my decision to buy this guitar. I will probably switch pups for SD's and this will probably be my goto axe from now on. It is brighter in tone and the attack is sharper than my les paul, but it is a good addition to my pallet of tones to work with on my music. I have to comment on the neck, it feels very raw in the sense that it is not glossy, more satin. Very smooth and pleasing to the touch. If you are considering this guitar, buy it, you will be very glad you did.

Great Guitar

By Dylan

from Naubinway, Michigan

Comments about Godin Redline HB Electric Guitar:

Well lets start off with the beautiful color of the maple, great craftsmanship. but i like how the neck isnt all that gloss and polyurathane, they actually sanded it down and its nice and smoothe. it makes it easier for those shredding solos or just those slides. it was alot lighter than i thought it would be i have a fender strat also but i like the weight of this one and its good for lower tunings. The pickups now are really good without pedals, and it sounds great, especially in drop c tuning. but the thing i dont like all that well, is how they sound on clean, they sound a little muddy for my liking. The Bridge is really what i like, it feels nice and smoothe and kindof like rounded to fit the shape of your palm, and its great for those chugging riffs like punk and garage bands, it also helps with the sustain. But a great guitar, the body and constuction well done, all of this for a good price. Great job Godin!!!!
