Overview

The high-gloss Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic-Electric Guitar boasts the innovations found in all Godin A-series guitars. You get plugged-in acoustic sound with the feel of an electric guitar neck, and a chambered body that virtually eliminates feedback in live and loud settings.

The A6 Ultra HG guitar also has the added "oomph" and full tone of a Godin humbucker pickup in the neck position. An an under-saddle transducer, dual outputs (acoustic and electric) that combine for a huge stereo sound and a Custom Godin preamp voiced specifically for the A6 Ultra HG help constuct the tones you want. The preamp gives guitarists tone control via sliders for acoustic volume, treble, mid, bass, and independent controls for the electric humbucker's volume, treble and bass.

Whether plugging into the single acoustic mix or in stereo (via both outputs), controlling your Godin A6 guitar's tone is at your finger tips. And the high-gloss A6 Ultra guitar delivers in all styles of music from jazz to rock to country as well as being a great blues slide guitar.

Great Guitar

By SilkyHotLicks

from Sacramento, CA.

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar in mid 2008 because my $5K PRS McCarty II Hollow Body was stolen from me when I lived in Seattle in 2007. At the time I couldnۡt afford to spend another $5K on a great acoustic/electric guitar so I began a search for a sub $1K good acoustic/electric guitar. I tried the Fender Acoustasonic and boy did it have some mellow tones but the bridge design is such that it appears to be slightly lifted at one corner and I just couldnۡt stomach that. After a bit of a trial and error process with other guitars I tried the Godin A6 Ultra and I was simply amazed at the sound and playability. It is by far the best tonally accurate production guitar that I have ever owned. I have it fitted with Thomastik Jazz Swing JS110 strings and I play through a Roland AC60 amp. When I am working solo or duet gigs it is my guitar of choice.

Dream Machine

By Pappy

from Northern Virginia

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

My Godin A6 Ultra is about 3years old now and still looks and plays like a new one.I Play it live once a week and has never let me down. The dual outputs are amazing ,very important for a lead guitar player. If your searching reviews to find the best acoustic to play Lead Guitar in a live setting the buck stops here. This is an excellent value compared to Taylors or Gibsons costing over twice as much. The playability is very close to an electric which saves your fingers.I play 3 hour Acoustic gigs on Friday nights and 3 hour Electric gigs on Saturday. The A6 won't leave your fingers feeling like Hamburger the next day. An all around workingmans dream machine.

Quality to the nth degree

By Stephen Carlone

from Barrington, RI

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I recently ordered this instrument through Guitar Center and picked it up at the store. I also own a Godin ACS nylon electric which I love. This seemed like it might be a satisfactory balance for me as I am used to acoustic guitars and play a lot of alternate tunings. Of the nine guitars I own, including an old Gibson and a RI made Guild, this seems to be the best. When I play a suspended or diminshed chord I hear what I expect to hear, leads are right on. As someone else has said the guitar makes me sound better. No doubt because the intonation and general construction of this guitar is high quality. For the price this is a GREAT instrument. I don't know how Godin does it but they do it well. I encourage anyone to strap on this hybrid, it looks good, and surprise unplugged you wouldn't know that there isn't a sound hole: I guess chambering works. It just feels easy to play and "hitting the right notes", seems effortless. Before you buy that next acoustic electric, take a look at this gem.

Very nice guitar

By DON COVEL

from Irvine, CA

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

Features: Godin has achieved a very nice balance between an acoustic and electric guitar in one instrument. The under the saddle pickup is good; better than most e.g. Fishman. It does not have the irritating quakiness most UTS pickups have. When you blend in the neck humbucker it really warms up. It sounds a little like a jazz guitar. Quality: overall quality is good. Nice finish, no flaws. Look & feel: The cognac sunburst is very attractive. Pros: an excellent choice for someone looking for a guitar that has a decent acoustic sound and that can be played as an electric guitar... saves lugging around 2 guitars. The Taylor T-5 is probably a higher quality guitar with a better feel but the Godin actually sounds better at about 1/3 the price. Cons: The saddle pickup is significantly weaker than the neck pickup but can be balanced in your amp or mixer to achieve a good sound. The action is a little high (not bad) but can be set up with some adjustment to the saddle and nut. It does not have great sound unplugged but this is a very minor issue. Its fine for practice without an amp. Overall: It think this guitar is by far the best choice in this price range.

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

Purchased the Godin A6 Ultra Black from GC on-line and had it delivered free to my local GC. I took the new guitar out of the gig bag to discover that the neck humbucker was left dangling in the pickup cavity. I had to remove the strings, remove the pickup surround, reset the pickup screws, and adjust the pickup height, which took about an hour. The action was a little too high, so I also filed the TUSQ saddle down with no problem. Intonation is spot on and it stays in tune with light to heavy playing. Initially, I plugged the neck humbucker jack into a Vox AC15 amp and the acoustic under-saddle piezo jack into a Fender Acoustasonic 90 amp using just a little reverb in both amps. The sound and tones were nice, but I achieved the best jazz-like clean tones when I plugged just the combo piezo/humbucker jack into the Vox amp. The acoustic guitar tones with the piezo pickup were very realistic. I used the neck humbucker to broaden the acoustic guitar tones. The humbucker only tones were fine but not very expansive. I did notice an annoying chorus effect when I played the 1st & 2nd strings alone. Changing the original electric guitar strings to acoustic guitar phosphor bronze (.11's) helped a little. The phosphor bronze strings also sounded better in my opinion, but I'm more of an acoustic player. The gig bag is of very good quality and seems to offer adequate protection. I'll probably opt for a Godin hard shell case later. I am very pleased with the Godin A6 Ultra in terms of playability, quality, aesthetics, sound, and value.

I missed it!

By Sam Russo

from Cincinnati

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

Had this guitar about 5 years ago and sold it like a fool. Went through a hundred or so guitars since. Kept some, sold some. But, always wished I had kept this guitar. I just ordered it and can't wait to start playing it again. It IS the perfect of both worlds.

Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar Cognac Burst

By Frank Mauro

from Lebanon, Ct

Comments about Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I recently purchased a Godin A6 Ultra HG Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar Cognac Burst. I was looking for a guitar to play as a substitute for a full bodied acoustic. I was pleasantly surprise to find that is a exceptionally nice guitar for playing jazz. I would stay with the strings Godin recommends EJ21 Light Jazz (12-52). The pickups and dual outputs add a multidimensional level of sound control when played through separate amps. Neat idea. Also the fingerboard and neck are a dream to play. Just keep in mind this is an acoustic and you will only be able to do some semi-tone bends. I purchased this guitar from the Manchester Connecticut Guitar center. I can't say enough about the enthusiasm of the staff. A big thanks to Christopher "Ollie Twist" Oliphant.
