Overview

The Godin 5th Avenue Jazz Guitar is the next logical step up the 5th Avenue series ladder. Following on the success of the Kingpin models with cutaway, the 5th Avenue Jazz Guitar has features that Jazz guitarists have been asking for.

This very elegant instrument was made with the jazz player in mind. This upper echelon 5th Avenue Jazz features arched back as well as arched top and comes in two all high-gloss custom polished finishes, including Sunburst HG and Natural Flame HG. The Sunburst model consists of Canadian wild cherry top, back & sides and the Natural Flame model features flame maple top, back & sides with Canadian wild cherry core.

Other features include a smooth sounding floating Godin Mini-humbucker jazz pickup in the neck, ebony fingerboard, ebony volume and tone knobs, classic multi-layered binding, high-ratio open geared nickel tuners, engraved floating pickguard, custom tailpiece and adjustable Tusq bridge by Graphtech.

Compared to other 5th Avenue guitars, the Jazz model has a body that is slightly smaller with contours that make it even more comfortable to play. This body design produces a bright and punchy acoustic tone. A single Godin floating humbucker provides an intimate electric sound with superior dynamics, perfectly suitable for both fingerstyle and flatpicking.

Crafted with beautiful Canadian willd cherry or flame maple, the body of the 5th Avenue Jazz has a molded arched top and back. The gloss finish highlights the beauty of these body woods. Classic f-holes, contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard and cream binding enhance the guitar's jazzy looks, while an adjustable Tusq bridge by Graphtech and ebony fingerboard contribute to the guitar's jazzy tone.

Godin includes a TRIC case that provides a level of impact protection for your 5th Avenue Jazz rivaling that offered by many flight cases. The TRIC case is just slightly heavier than a typical gig bag, yet its ability to resist changes in temperature make it one of the finest innovations in guitar protection in years.

Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Jazz Guitar:

Yeah, I bought one of these things, the 5th Avenue Jazz, but sent it right back. This instrument is an insult to any musician. The intonation was pathetic, the talepiece, which by the way was grossly misaligned with respect to the neck, generated this ungodly, tinny, parasitic resonance that's beyond belief. The finish was the poorest ever; f-hole edges are raw wood, rough-to-touch raw wood, no varnish whatsoever. The top, right under the bridge parallel to the strings, had a 3.5" crack. The crack was beneath the finish, indicating that there is very little or no quality control in the factory. This instrument should be selling for about two hundred bucks, not two thousand dollars!

Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Jazz Guitar:

I wanted an archtop but did not want to spend $4k for it, because I play on my back porch, yard ... After a lot research, I ordered one through GC delivered to my house. When it came (~2yrs ago) my wife opened it and was shocked at how beautiful it was. When I got home, I inspected it very carefully for defects and there were none. Wood was perfect quality, finish perfect, alignment perfect. It has just the sound I was looking for acoustically, and the pickup gives a nice jazz sound.

Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Jazz Guitar:

This Guitar is amazing. I just began to play it and my family was immediately impressed with the clarity of the tones and music coming out of this Guitar. I used a small Fender Acoustic Amp and it sounds simply awesome. Do your self a favor and go try one of these out. For the sound and quality of the build on this guitar, you would expect to pay a lot more. I can't find any flaws in the craftsmanship either, it is tight and right. This is easily a professional grade Jazz Guitar, but you can play anything on it and it seems like you can play it either acoustic without an amp, with an amp or through any version of your favorite amp..It is gonna sound good.

Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Jazz Guitar:

The guitar is beautiful, has a great sound, and considering the price is a good deal. The only thing is that is kind of hard, specially with bars. I have 7 different guitars and this is the only one that marks my left hand fingers when I play it.
