With so many great guitars available today, I am so glad I came across the Godin Company in my search. I had my heart set on a Gibson Les Paul and the Studios were in my budget/ price range. I played a few of the Studios at GC but wasn't really happy with the quality because of some fret buzzing I experienced with the Low E string. So I started looking at what else was available.
The Godin Icon Type 2 Convertible was a perfect choice for me. The neck plays very nicely. The fit and finish is top notch. For this price you also get binding on the chambered body and the head stock, something that costs much more if it has the Gibson name on it. The toggles may look confusing for some, but you quickly find how easily you adapt to the wide variety of sounds available, get for cover bands.
The sounds that you can get from the Duncan P-rails are just incredible. With my Orange Tiny Terror Combo which is a single channel amp, I can set it up to get a get rock tone and just by rolling off the volume of the Godin, the sound cleans up very nicely for a sweet clean tone. Even with no delay or reverb added, the sound chimes crystal clear. The HDR is a very nice bonus added, it take an already great sound and adds definition overall. Its hard to describe, but picture it like going from regular TV to HD TV, its the same difference but for your ears instead of your eyes.
Very pleased with this purchase!
