East meets West—you win.
In a nutshell, the Godin A11 Glissentar Electric Guitar is an 11-string, fretless, acoustic-electric instrument, strung with nylon strings and tuned to standard guitar tuning. Made to allow effortless mixing of Eastern and Western music, the Godin Glissentar is a creative blending of a guitar and an oud. All of its basic physical features—scale length, body size, depth, fingerboard radius, and string height—are standard guitar dimensions. The Eastern influence in the Glissentar A11 comes from the oud, an 11-string fretless lute still in use today throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Adapting to this new instrument is actually a great deal easier than it appears, with its familiar guitar-like feel and easily visible side position markers. The Glissentar A11 opens the door to microtonal playing as well as some incredible and unique sounds for adventurous musicians.
