I enjoy the tone of pure nickel strings, and these are my fav.
I bought these strings for my Les Paul Prophecy Custom GX, what else would you buy for an LP? I was trying to get as much of a vintage sound as I could. After tuning them up and plugging them into my Vox VT15 I was shocked, the sound was exactly what I had been looking for, needless to say I fell in love. Only problem is when I picked my guitar up a week later G B and high E were all corroded and had lost all the brightness they previously had, even when played on the "Chimey Vox" settings on my modeling amp. In the strings defense my hands were about as sweaty as can be when I strung them and did not treat or clean them before putting the guitar back on the wall. In light of other reviews saying they lasted quite a while I'd say this is a case of the check operator light being on. Regardless of this aggravating issue I'll still buy them again, just can't be the sound. I'll just make sure to take better care of them this time.
I've been using Ernie Ball Super Slinkys for a while and i switched over to these strings and they sound amazing on my lespaul. I've gone through 4 packs of EB's in 1 month and over a three week period of having these strings ive only snapped one string and one uncoiled but thats because i probably pick too hard.
Been playing guitar for years and you can't beat the Gibson strings for your Les Paul. The strings have a great sound and are very durable. I play/practice at least 2 hrs. a day: bending, strumming, and picking. The strings usually hold for at least a month before breaking.
These strings are amazing! I was a big fan of D'adario till I tried these pups. All other strings would lose tone after about 3 weeks and become discolored where my fingers would hit the fret, not these babies. I've have had mine on for 4+ months, no joke, and they almost sound as good as when I first put them on. Despite being labled as a Balanced set of strings these bad boys have the best of the best in both worlds: harmonics just jump off the stings, and you get that great pluck of clarity on the cleans. All in all these are the best overall strings I've ever played and they have long life. Great job Gibson!
OK...granted I'm OLD. I've played acoustic for years, but just recently I picked up a used Les Paul. Make your Les Paul SOUND like a Les Paul. I play older rock & was looking for strings with a fuller, richer sound. I just found them. They may, or may not be right for you...depending of what style music you play.
I used to sware by Ernie Ball Slinky Hybrids, until I got these. I got these by accident actually, I told a friend to pick up some strings for me, and that I wanted to try some Gibson Bright Wires, he gave me these instead and said that they where all out of Bright Wires. I put them on my Ibanez SA, and was blown away by how clear they sounded, even through the thickest distortion my amps and pedals could dish out. Needless to say I wont be trying anything else anytime soon
