Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

I put this on my sg, it looks cool and is well made. It's nice having the micro tuners and it makes changing strings easier, not that it was hard before. This is a robust item and guitar center sells it a lot cheaper than the gibson store

      Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

This makes tuning and changing strings so much easier. It really does seem to help the notes sustain a little longer, it could just be placebo, but whatever. It's really nice regardless.

        Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

I have the TP-6 tailpiece on every Gibson I own (plus two Epiphone Les Pauls). Especially Gibsons with the less reliable Kluson tuners, this tailpiece really locks in the micro-tuning. Some people say, and I agree, it adds a little sustain.

They have become pricier over the years, but I highly recommend this addition to Gibsons!

One note ... this fits on SOME Epiphones, usually not the lesser expensive Les Pauls and SGs.

        Gotta have it

        Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

I had one on a '81 LP Custom (traded it: what a fool) and put one on my Black Beauty reissue (main axe). I'm putting one on my LP Standard (backup). If you own a LP, SG, Explorer, V, etc -- you want this tailpiece! The control of fine tuning is amazing. It makes tuning a snap.

        Better tuning and sustain

        By Ronald Smith

        from Auburn, WA

        Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

This tailpiece weighs noticeably more than the original one. The weight was the first thing I noticed when installing it. I got it for the fine-tuning feature, but once I put it on I noticed it added sustain on my guitar. Quite impressive since the Les Paul already has impressive sustain! I am convinced that the added mass contributed to the additional sustain. I didn't notice any other change in tone, just the added sustain and the ability to tune the guitar more precisely.

Better than my original Gibson bridge

        By Matt Williams

        from Essex, England

        Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

I got my TP6 over 20 years ago and wouldn't want to play without it. The thing I have always found surprising is that every once in a while I decide that surely the original fixed tailpiece must sound better, but no, the TP6 definitely sounds better. It's hard to describe scientifically, it just pleases my ears more. I'm not sure but maybe it's got something to do with the fact that the guitar is easier to tune, and maybe a fractionally better tuned guitar sounds more pleasant than one that is not tuned so well.

        Ups The Ante on Tune/Tone

        By Chanaica

        from Charlotte NC

        Comments about Gibson Tailpiece TP-6:

I had been searching for the TP-6 for a while. During late summer '06 the Gold TP-6 was unavailable, so I tried to go with Schaller Fine Tune tailpiece. Let it be known that the Schaller unit will not fit an SG Custom without post mods, so don't go there. I finally got a TP-6 in Gold in Early Oct. It is a perfect fit on the Epiphone G-400 Custom. The studs/posts on the guitar work fine so there is no need for the new posts. A simple snap in and the Epiphone has new life. I can't believe the total sustain now. It's longer and brighter. Can't explain it but it is. My G-400 custom needed intonation work, so besides the Pro set-up, I got the TP-6, a Gotoh retainerless ABR-1 clone (fatty) bridge, and Sperzel locking tuners. The TP-6 was the icing on the cake as it incorporates the wonderful twist of the knob to help the tuning ever so slightly. Wonderful!!!!!!!
