Overview

The vintage appeal of this Gibson Southern Jumbo acoustic-electric guitar is right out front with a brilliantly executed sunburst finish and split parallelogram inlays on the bound rosewood fretboard. The Gibson Southern Jumbo's black pickguard complements the black headstock veneer with pearl logo and crown inlay. And it sounds as sweet as it looks with a premium solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a piezo pickup with active preamp. Lower string tension from the 24-3/4" scale makes this Gibson guitar play like a dream.

A Really Fine Acoustic Guitar.

Comments about Gibson Southern Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Gibson S.J. has to be one of the best solid spruce/solid mahogany dreadnaughts avaiable. The fit, finish and quality of the S.J. was perfect with the one I purchased. I examined three others and found them top of the line just like the one I bought. I play Bluegrass and Folk Music, with local bands in my area. When playing this guitar unplugged with straight acoustic bands, it does really well. Wether chording, flatpicking or fingerpicking, this S.J. does it all. I use DR "Rare" Phoshor Bronze strings in light gauge .054"-.012", and switch to mediums .056"-.013" when needed. To me, my S.J. has a better mahogany sound, tone and sustain along with a low bass that is better than my standard Martin D-18 solid spruce/mahogany dreadnaught.
