The light bulb. Television and radio. The microwave oven. Gibson’s SG – all inspirations of genius that transformed the way we live. Gibson’s redesign of the Les Paul in 1960 was a bold move. But it paid off big time. It announced a new, radical electric guitar design for Gibson, and the world. It also inspired a rebellious generation of ideas and music rarely experienced before, and certainly not since.
Today, that same radical design – and restless spirit – lives on in Gibson’s celebrated SG (short for solid guitar) line. The Gibson SG ’61 Reissue pays tribute to this revolutionary guitar. It’s all there, in all its original glory. With features such as solid mahogany body and neck construction, its signature slim-taper neck profile, and Gibson's '57 Classic humbuckers, it is a faithful recreation of the 1961 Les Paul. And now, with a grain-textured satin nitrocellulose finish that makes this SG feel like an old friend right out of the bag, this guitar has all the ingredients that made the '61 SG legendary, at a price any hard-gigging guitarist can afford.
Transform your playing. Revolutionize your life. Buy the Gibson SG ’61 Reissue today and experience your own uprising firsthand.

Before I start to praise this guitar I have to say that this is the review of the ONLY sg61 that I have played, this may not be totally true for another of the same guitar (as no two guitars are alike). For ALL Gibson guitars (especially with their quality control nowadays) you will want to go play it at your local guitar store or GUITAR CENTER (of course) to make sure it plays to your standards. OKAY! here we go. Features: The pick ups...GOOD LORD. I teared up a little bit when a put the amp on the odr channel and they offered just the perfect amount of grit. They also sound amazing clean. You would really have to try to make this guitar sound bad. Quality & Reliability: Too new to tell really...it seems like a sg and plays like a sg. So I assume that Gibson knows what their doing. It's all really a matter of quality control from Gibson's Factory. This is why you MUST play the guitar before purchasing. Look & Feel: This guitar has everything anyone could possibly want. The satin finish gives it the vintage look you always wanted but your not paying 3,000 for a historic; when I first saw it I looked at the price and thought it had to be a misprint. The slim-taper neck is perfect for playability. Overall a fantastic guitar. Gibson has really made a turn-around with the release of this sg.
