The introduction of Gibson's iconic Flying V in 1958 turned the guitar world upside down. The 2007 introduction of the Robot guitar”that Gibson claims is the world's first self-tuning guitar”had the same effect, essentially redefining the power and possibility of a guitar to capture the imagination of players all around the world. Gibson USA is now proud to unite these two groundbreaking concepts in the new Michael Schenker Robot II Flying V ” the perfect fusion of a legendary Gibson design with one of the company's most pioneering innovations.
The Gibson Limited Run Schenker V Robot II electric guitar offers all the power, tone, and performance of a traditional Flying V model plus the amazing Robot tuning system. The solid mahogany body “ dressed up in Michael Schenker's favorite colors “ gives you the warmth and sustain for today's modern rock music. The mahogany neck is hand-shaped into a comfortable rounded '50s profile. The sleek and radical Flying V body style gives the player complete access to the 22-fret ebony fretboard.
This high tech metal machine is loaded with one of Gibson's most potent pickup combinations. Introduced in the early 1970s, the 496R and 500T pickups filled the need for more powerful humbuckers and energized the emergence of hard rock and heavy metal. The 496R produces incredible sustain and cutting power with its ceramic magnet, adding more highs with increased definition and no muddiness at all. The 500T is one of Gibson's most powerful pickups, containing a three ceramic magnet structure, which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs.
The Gibson Robot self-tuning system is built into this gorgeous signature Flying V guitar without changing its looks. All the sound and playability that have made the V one of the most successful electric guitars of all time are retained. With the addition of this revolutionary system, you don't have to tune up your guitar every time you play it. The Gibson Robot guitar does it for you. Just plug it in, dial in the tuning, strum the strings, and play.
To tune itself, the Robot guitar uses an onboard central processing unit (CPU) that analyzes the pitch of each string as detected by the Tune-Control bridge. Tuning information from the CPU is relayed to the motorized tuning machines that efficiently adjust each string to the correct pitch with a distinctive whirring sound that lets you know Robot Guitar is on the job.
You activate the Gibson Robot Les Paul with the Master Control Knob (MCK) that functions as a tone control in the down position and is pulled up to activate the tuning system. In addition to standard (A-440Hz) tuning, six commonly used tunings are selectable from the MCK. Users can also program their own custom tunings as well as set the guitar's intonation. Now, with the Gibson Robot guitar, you'll spend more time playing-in tune. In live performance you can easily change tunings practically soundlessly on the fly, keeping your show flowing smoothly. There's no longer any need to haul several instruments to the gig to cover various tunings The Robot Guitar's got it covered for you!
