The Gibson Nighthawk 09 Electric Guitar features a gorgeous non-arched AAA maple top on a bound, thin-contoured, single cutaway body and a 22-fret bound rosewood neck on a set mahogany neck. The Limited Run Nighthawk '09 is loaded with two of Gibson's most outstanding pickups to produce a rare combination of tones. Widely known as Gibson's first successful single-coil pickup, the lean and mean P-90 (neck) offers a stellar combination of high output and biting treble response. The Burstbucker 3 (bridge) has unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, like the original "Patented Applied For" pickup. It is slightly overwound, with hotter output. All hardware on the Gibson Nighthawk guitar is chrome including Kluson tuners and a fixed Tune-o-matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece. comes with a special Limited Run Series certificate of authenticity and a black hardshell case with white interior and silkscreened Gibson USA logo.

Well... Having 8 guitars including, Both fender American deluxe Stratocaster and Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul Supreme, and a Joe Satriani JS 100 Ibanez and some others. I have to say that this here Nighthawk is a totally different animal than any of my other guitars, Lighter and thinner than my Tele with a sharper blues sound with the P-90, Out screams my Les Paul with the Burstbucker 3 pick-up, And the Gibson neck is fast and solid. It gives you a very wide range of sounds that you can get out of it. The AAA maple Trans Amber top glows. This guitar has definitely found a place in my music. Thanks again guys
I have used an older nighthawk for years as my #1. I was looking to buy another for a backup and was so pleased that Gibson decided on this limited run. It's not the same as the previous hawks in that the body is not contoured in the back. the neck has a great feel and the Pickup combination is very interesting and usable. I have just recently become a fan of P90 pickups. The thing I like is how well the wood is crafted. It's very pretty, but I judge a guitar first on how well it sounds unplugged. Unplugged, there is no buzzing and it is louder than my other guitars unplugged. To me this says a lot about the quality of the wood and construction. Plugged in, it's just a pleasure to play. Comes from the factory set up with .010 strings. Mine came out of the box in tune and ready to play with no setup.
