Overview

The Les Paul Melody Maker is one the Limited Run Series as Gibson USA re-introduces the Melody Maker as the budget-friendly entree to Gibson solidbody electrics. The Melody Maker was introduced by Gibson 1959 as their budget solidbody model. It had a single-cutaway Les Paul Junior shape with a thinner body and distinctive, narrower Melody Maker headstock. The one single-coil pickup was controlled by one volume knob”sound familiar? In later years, a double-cutaway and then an SG-shaped Melody Maker were released.

The new Melody Maker is available in four iconic body shapes: Les Paul and, SG, and now for the first time for the Melody Maker: Flying V, and Explorer. The Melody Maker is now powered by a 491T ceramic-magnet humbucker to produce the punch and roar that modern guitar players demand. The maple body comes in a choice of grain-textured satin finishes while the set-in, 1-piece mahogany neck has the slim Melody Maker profile. The wrapround tailpiece, with its tight and solid design, offers the sustain and resonance that many rockers seek. The Gibson USA Melody Maker comes with deluxe gig bag.

Great Guitar!!!

By Ryan Evans

from Nashville,TN

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Melody Maker Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for about 6 months, and I can't put it down. It plays great, and it sounds amazing. This is an absolutely killer bargain for top notch Gibson quality and sound. I love the simplicity of this instrument: one pickup, one volume knob, awesome tone. This is acoustically the loudest solidbody I have ever played. I think it is probably due to the maple body construction. I just can't say enough good things about this guitar. It sounds a lot better than much more expensive guitars that I own. Great job Gibson!

Not worth it!

By Ian

from Wichita, KS

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Melody Maker Electric Guitar:

I've tried several of these guitars hoping the one I tried before was just a lemon, and that the next one would be better. This was not the case. The finish is terrible: feels like it's made out of plywood. The neck is rough, the pickup is weak, it won't stay in tune, and the action sucks. It feels, looks, and sounds like they made it from parts found in a dumpster, and they charge ya for it. Don't buy the melody maker, buy an epiphone LP standard. Seriously, a Squire would be better than this.

Killer Rocker

By Gene King

from New York, NY

Comments about Gibson Limited Run Les Paul Melody Maker Electric Guitar:

I'm 65 yrs old. I've played every iconic guitar that exists and some very esoteric models as well. If you rock, you need no more than this innocuous little "Beast". The maple body and torrified maple fret board give this guitar huge Sustain! The 491T ceramic magnet pickup and mahogany neck help kick this guitar into rocker heaven. There is no need to spend more for a rock guitar. Anything more is cosmetic and hyperbole. I bought one and love it.
