Overview

Taking design and visual cues from the Les Paul models of the '80s and '90s, the Les Paul Traditional Pro III EX Electric Guitar features powerful pickups with push/push for coil splits, coil selector and boost circuit, '60s neck profile, antique binding, period-correct pickguard, vintage Gibson top hat knobs, locking Grover tuners and the revolutionary Plek set up.

With all the fat, sweet, snarling Les Paul tone that purists love, the Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro III sports a mahogany body with a thick figured maple cap for the perfect blend of warmth and clarity. The top is finished in high-gloss lacquer, while the back, sides, and neck have a smooth satin finish that feels great and lets the wood resonate fully. Includes hardshell case.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro 3T Figured Maple Top:

This is an extremely versatile guitar. It is not just great looks and awesome tone...it is the total package. It is extremely bright and chimey with the Maple Top. Although the description states that it is gloss top and satin sides, back and neck, mine is gloss all over. The coil tap and db boost is a neat feature, offers a strat sound when you need it and with the push of a button dirty crunch.... The build quality is superior and absolutely awesome in person.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro 3T Figured Maple Top:

Great axe, I've played for 40+ years and spend about 15 of those years running cover bands. Past 10 years all originals. So, I've played everything and owned many of the best guitars. PRS, Fender Start Deluxe, Fender Tele Deluxe, Eddie Van Halen, Taylor, Breedlove the list is extensive. This guitar is in the top 3 electrics that I've ever played. My top 3 are all amazing guitars with unique qualities about each. This guitar is great. I'm an advanced player at a pro level and I highly recommend this guitar. The tone is great and the coil taps with the boost works perfect you can get buttery blues and then go straight to crunch. I play it through my Line 6 Helix head and a Line 6 DT amp. Best of the best.
      Enjoy!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro 3T Figured Maple Top:

Let`s start with the bad news (which is not so bad, for the guitar is awesome):

          Dislike:
          1. The poor wiring inside the guitar (cables are too thin) does not reflect what Gibson, as a quality brand, should be doing these days.
          2. The push-push potentiometers are a good feature, in terms of sound, but since they are connceted with a poor wiring system, the whole system (even though, it sound amazing) feels weak, as if it will brake anytime soon.

I fixed this by installing new potentiometers (no push push) and new wiring VINTAGE STYLE (also put some Vitamin Q capacitors, which 1959 Les Pauls use to have).

NOW I HAVE THE BEST GUITAR IN THE WORLD.

          Like:
          1. It is (no doubt) the Muhammad Ali of guitars: heavyweight, powerful and groovie.
          2. Amazing looks.
          3. Beautiful and powerful (tipical Gibson Les Paul) sound.
          4. When not plugged, sounds amazing too.
          5. It makes you believe that you are Slash, Gary Moore or Jimmy Page, for it has sweets, fats and high tones.
          6. Mine (a 2015 model) weights 9.9 pounds, and as I said, is a heavyweight... heavy guitars sound better (in my opinion and regarding that "fat" sound I love), period.
          7. These guitars have more to do with the old Les Paul Standard, than the nowadays Les Paul Standards, which are, in addition, more expensive.

The fact that the inner circuit is of poor quality is undeniable (and could be easily fixed -and if you don`t you still have a super guitar in terms of sound).

That fact that this guitar is amazing and it sounds awesome, is aswell undeniable.

Without any changes, is a 5 star guitar.

Putting new potentiometers and capacitors will make this guitar THE BEST GUITAR IN THE WORLD.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro 3T Figured Maple Top:

I have played for 40 years. 15 years in cover bands and then the last 10 years doing original projects.
Released several CD's along the way and I would consider myself a top player. I've own many guitars. PRS, Fender, Taylor, Breedlove, Ibanez, Musicman etc.. I setelled on Fender about 10 years back and then played a Gibson Less Paul 3T and decided I need to own one and put it through the paces at my studio and see how it really performed. I'm very impressed with the tone and versatility of the pickup combinations. The Coil Tap with the boost is perfect and this thing signs when I play it. I've played them all and I have favorites and this is in the top of the top. I put it right up there with my Telecaster Deluxe and Stratocaster Deluxe. Each having excellent tone but unique to the instrument. I'm using a Line 6 Helix head through a Line 6 DT 25 amp and it's as good as it gets.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro 3T Figured Maple Top:

This is my 4th Les Paul. It's beautiful, from the Vintage Sunburst to the aged binding and pick guard. I love the fact that there is no weight relief. The Grover tuners are nice and it plays great. What is keeping me from saying this is a great guitar comes down to two things. No Mother of Pearl inlays and gimmicky electronics. [coil splitting and decibel boost] I keep the pickups in the humbucker position and don't use the 10db boost. But the fact that they are there bothers me. This is a good guitar, just not a great one.
