Been 2 years, and I still cant put it down

By Gibson + Marshall = Tone you cant ar

from Lake Havasu City, AZ

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar! I am sure that there was a GC Las Vegas employee kicking himself for telling me to put down the Goldtop and give this one a try! Hahaha! I am still not crazy about the looks of this guitar, but the tone still satisfies, even after 2 years. Very comfortable neck, and the weight of this Les Paul is substantially less than a mahogany paul. Yet the sustain is fantastic, and that tone... Oh man!

A Les Paul like no other

By Rich

from Irvine, CA

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

This really is a guitar that nearly plays itself. It rings out loud and clear before you even plug it in. Amp it up and it can go from a monstrous lead chugging demon beast to a beautifully crisp clean toned angel. Much brighter than a standard Les Paul, but with an extremely wide mid band sound, and a crunchy low end (even if not as deep as a standard Paul). I have the non-chambered version which weighs a ton, but sounds so amazing and unique, it's worth the "weight", if you will. Hands down my favorite guitar, even more than the Gibson Flying V I own (which is a tough act to follow). If you can, BUY THIS GUITAR! You will be amazed.

I love my Gibson

By Steve Herzog - St. Louis, Mo.

from St. Louis, Mo.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

This is guitar is a real treat to play. It gives all of the rich, creamy tones you'd expect from a Les Paul. I play it through a Marshal MG100FX and the combination has all the heart and soul that anyone could ask for. My Les Paul Swamp Ash holds its tune when beating out a driving low end rhythm or bending strings on a blues riff. This guitar sounds great playing both clear and distortion channels. I would strongly recommend the Gibson Studio Les Paul to anyone interested in a guitar to take their skills to the next level. The ecological features of the Swamp Ash Les Paul are a complete bonus. It shows that Gibson not only cares about you making great music, it shows they care about your children enjoying the same privilege. .. oh yeah .. no problems with the selector switch :)

Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar

By GibsonGuitars

from Maple Ridge BC, Canada

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

The Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio is a great sounding guitar. Its got great tone. I use it with a Peavey Duece 120 watt tube amp and a Boss Overderive pedal with gauge 12-56 strings on it. My only complaint was i had to replace the selector switch, but that was covered under warranty. If you're into the classic rock like i am its a great guitar and it won't empty your wallet as much as other Gibsons.

Update to Previous Comment

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I would just like to comment on the Guitar Center staff in VA Beach. My LP SA kept buzzing on the G & A strings after several attempts at adjustments and replacing the strings. The staff at GC replaced the guitar with a new one and it works perfectly. Thank you GC.

Swamp Ash

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I recently purchased the swamp ash studio and so far, so good. Great feel, easy to play and a nice tone. Can't beat the look either. Interestingly, I also had a problem with my selector switch (which is covered for a year under warranty) -- got some dirt in it, but it wiggled itself out and no other problems. I would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

This guitar can go from metal to blues in an instant. Its amazing ive tried other guitars such as esp deluxe les paul style but couldnt compare. The gibson explorer couldnt compare either. This guitar smokes all the others. This is a best buy. The pickups are amazing.

Needle in the haystack

By Rob

from Wheaton Il

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

This is a Les Paul that isn't going to jump out at you from the other Studios, Specials and Standards hanging in the store. It is worth searching for as it is a remarkable guitar. The pickups are the same as found in many Customs and the sustain matches any of the heavier Les Paul's out there. The body weight is much more tolerable and easier to play. It is a tone monster. There are not many people out there playing them, so its looks also turns heads. My Strat hasn't been out to a gig in the year I've owned mine.

One Sweet Axe

By Selene

from Seattle

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I bought this one as a birthday present to myself. The natural wood finish on this one is a real eye catcher. The tone is typically Gibson. On clean it is clear, and hitting overdrive can play just about anything. The '59 neck can take some getting used to particularly if you don't have large hands. I do wish the frets were a finished a bit better on the edges. The nut had some issues with string binding during the tuning process and I would first try working with a nut file and if that doesn't do the trick, replace it with a GraphTec or bone. With a little work this can be a great Les Paul for the money. If these had been done it would have gotten a 5-star rating. I would definitely get a setup done though.

Greatest Tone Ever!!!

By Poston

from georgia

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I like to play full body blues all over the neck. I put the volumes and tones on 5 and can go to 4 or 6 for subtle changes to rythm or lead. On lead; I get a consistant volume and tone on the high notes... not so good on my fender highs. The tones and volume nobs are the most graduated in the world. Because there is no pick guard, the wood started to wear with ridges. I was dissappointed because of the loss of value, but since I have no plans to get rid of it, It's actually pretty cool looking.

In love with this guitar

By Serafin

from Montevideo, Uruguay

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar in GC San Francisco (on rebate) about 6 months ago, I am madly inlove with the excellent sound that comes out of this. The only complaint is that about 2 months after buying damp stains appeared on the wood so I had to send it to protect with a vertniz. Surely does not look as nice but the sound was not affected. I assume my problem was isolated because I have not seen other similar complaint.

Excellen Guitar

By Michael Nelson

from Sacramento CA

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. It is my favorite of all of the studio Les Pauls. If you are looking to buy a Gibson and don't need all of the trimings this is a great buy.It has a great feel and sound. The natural swamp ash is beautiful and light weight. It is very environmentally friendly. The price on this is very reasonable for a Gibson.

It really does sound as good as....

By douglas breland

from Los Angeles

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio Electric Guitar:

...everyone is saying. I did something I have never done in my life! I bought this guitar from listining to all the reviews. I have never ever done that. I usually play a guitar several times and I have returned them because I wasn't able to get a good blues/rock tone. I am a real touchy fanatic about tone! I have to have it and this guitar really delivers a bright bell like fat blues tone!!! It came with 490R neck (alnico 2 magnet) & a 498T bridge (alnico 5 magnet) but I changed them to a 57 classic (alnico 2 magnet)for the neck and a Angus young signature (alnico 5 magnet)for the brige. I took out the .022mfd ceramic (low grade) capacitors and replaced them with two .022 mfd orange drop cap (guitar center all parts brand $8.99 for a pack of three) Now I can get a strat and a tele sound. This is the only Les paul I have had that sounds great with a Fender amp. I you do buy this guitar and upgrade it following the info you'll thank me some lonesome day! This will be the guitar you never get rid if. I'm 40'ish and have been playing since I was 14 and have never come across a better sounding guitar ever!! You'll never get a better Les Paul for $1300.00
