Gibson's Les Paul Studio Premium Plus sounds as great as it looks. The durability and superb performance of the time-tested Les Paul Studio is updated with a shimmering AAA flamed maple top and gold hardware. It's a true beauty for the working guitarist. Traditional mahogany body and set '59 Les Paul Rounded maple neck generate great resonance for extended sustain from the 490R and 498T alnico magnet humbuckers.

The LP Studio Premium Plus lives up to its name. This is gorgeous! Get a no frills version of the Supreme at half the cost! The flame top is amazing. It will definitely turn heads. The pickups are hot, and sound great! They?re not the Burstbuckers, but still sound awesome. The lack of the body binding gives it a nice clean look. However, on the down-side (if there is any), the exposed maple edge is much more susceptible to nicks and dings. The wood edge is much softer than the white body binding on higher end Les Pauls. If you plan rough service for your LP, it's something to consider.
I bought this guitar today and got an amazing deal on it for the Memorial Day sale and I must say, it is a brilliant guitar. I purchased the Natural finish and the guitar tops every one of my expectations. I actually went in to buy a '57 Hot Rod Strat but I saw that pink/yellow DEAL tag and jumped on it. Super sweet and hot pick-ups especially through an all-tube amp with a little crunch. Awesome playibility, I personally always liked the '59 neck, great fit and finish and the chambered body eases up the weight on your back. I own a few other LPs and this one sticks with them. Great product. Overall: A
Is there any other way to rate this guitar, with premium Gibson pickups, AAA top and gold hardware mounted to the dense mahogany body. It has amazing tone and plays like a dream.
This is a very striking guitar, I have the natural and its a head turner. The sound is good, but the finish on the edge of the fret board is a little suspect. I have a Elitist Les Paul(EPI) that has a better finish and more attention to detail, and sounds just as good. But the look of the maple top is great on the Gibson
I had a les paul custom in 1981 and bought this studio recently. I can tell you that this is a much better sounding guitar. Sure, it might not have all the "frills" but it still looks amazing! Not only that, it sounds even better. I have a premium fender custom shop stratocaster and the fact is that as a guitarist, one MUST have a strat and a les paul....period...one cannot sound like the other. maybe with pickup changes you can get close but the sound of a les paul in clean mode, will never be as good as a fender strat and the sound of a strat overdriven, can never match that of a les paul. So instead of spending 2500 plus for a les paul custom, save a thousand and go with this one.
I recently bought this Les paul and I could not be happier with it.Its so light and durable at the same time. The look is enough but the pick-ups sound so good its amazing.I hooked it up to my line 6 half-stack and the sound was unbelievable.
I got this guitar for graduating 8th grade from my dad. I have been playing guitar for about 5 yrs now and previously before owning this guitar i had a strat replica.Well this blows anyothe guitar i have ever played OUT OF THE WATER!!! tone is so incredible perfect and the guitar its self (natrual finish with gold hardware) is awesome, i totally recommend this to any guitarist that plays any style, it perfect for anything.
Let me start by saying that I own the Natural finish on this model, and the pictures doesn't even come close to doing this guitar justice. It is a real beauty. It also sounds amazing. I am convinced that this guitar can play any style of music that you throw at it. For example, I play death metal and 70's rock and everything in between and this guitar plays them beautifully. I just plug it into my tube amp and there you go. I also have a solid state amp that I will play on and it sounds great on that too. This is also very easy to play as well. The action on it is great, it is easy to play chords and then go into a solo. Overall this is an amazing guitar, I challange anyone to find a better guitar than this in it's price range.
This guitar has all the tone I've ever needed. When rolling through blues riffs, or chuggin rock, even if I crank up the distortion it just soars. After 20 years of playing I'm supremely impressed. And so is the audience. Get one. I tune it. It stays in tune the whole show. The finish is sweet. The action is like a dream. I look forward to pulling it out of its white lined case every day. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
This guitar is one of the best i have ever played. I saw the natural finish hanging on the wall and i expected it to be a little soft and mellow guitar, but to my surprise this baby was packing a boat load of tone. This guitar was giving me exactly what i wanted and i had to have it. If you are a fan of les paul, or even if you aren't then you will totally love this guitar.
Just finished playing first gig with it, and i gotta say, this thing rocks like a pro. Sounds great with distortion or overdrive. I personally like the bridge pickup for clean sounds. The wood finish looks BEAUTIFUL (I have the light maple top), and gold hardware is like sprinkles on top. I'm in love with this thing.
