The arrival of the Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar in 1983 offered guitarists all the essential elements of a Les Paul Standard, including a carved top and humbucking pickups. Its simple yet elegant design quickly helped it become the most popular model in the Les Paul Series.
The Les Paul Studio Deluxe II '50s Electric Guitar raises the bar with the cutting-yet-rich tone of a 490R humbucking pickup in the neck position and a BurstBucker Pro humbucking pickup in the bridge position, which are mounted on a carved maple top with a mahogany back. Both pickups offer coil splitting for single-coil sounds and a boost circuit via push/push switching in the volume controls. “Straight Split” coil-splitting offers pure single coil tone and differs from LP Standards and Studios that have a “Super Tap” coil-tap, which still has a small amount of humbucking. The boost circuit has a user-adjustable 10dB boost for added power and frequency range for solos, single-note picking and dirty chording (depending on amp settings) and features true bypass that disengages the boost completely, ensuring pure passive Les Paul tone.
The hardware is finished in chrome including Grover tuners and Gibson's pioneering tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. The Les Paul Studio Deluxe is dependable and affordable — and is built without any compromises. The Gibson Les Paul comes with a hardshell case.

I've been playing on my vintage sunburst for about 4hours a day for a month and I haven't had to tune it yet! It has a golden deep sound to each string and absolutely love the pick ups so far I'm not disappointed I think I defiantly made the right choice I was looking at the mini e tuners they look pretty gnarly as we'll but had to go with the classic this guitar is top notch even the case is cosmetically beautiful
Let me detail this wonderful guitar (A GC/MF exclusive). Tonewoods: Flamed maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard - classic LP. Per Gibson and GC the body is chambered but mine is quite hefty. Very resonant - even unplugged. Rosewood fingerboard is fantastic and is solid (per Gibson). Pickups: More versatility than almost any LP I know of - the 490R and Burstbucker pro provide a wider palette than a pair of Burstbucker pros, the 490R/498T combo, and the 57/57+ combo. Nice warm bass out of the 490 and bright glassy treble out of the BBP. Distorted they both sound amazing. When using both pickups at once I do turn the volume on the BBP down just 1 level and it balances things out well. Coil Splitting: In this guitar it's true coil splitting not the partial humbucker business of some other LPs. The sound is definitely different but still not quite as twangy as my strat. Boost Circuit: Up to 10dB of extra boost whenever you want it - incredibly handy. When the circuit is disengaged it is completely transparent. Hardware: Grover Tuners, Tonepros bridge, standard stoptail. All good quality equipment. The nut is Corian. Case is standard Gibson - decent quality. Setup: PLEK setup (per Gibson). Mine was simply excellent. Low action with no fret buzz. The nut is cut a little tight and could provide better tuning stability (though with a 17 degree headstock tuning stability is seldom perfect). Looks: It's bloody gorgeous. The flame top is very well done - the flames are larger than on most other LPs and have a 3D look to them. I honestly preferred it to almost all of the AAA tops on Premium plus LPs. The satin mahogany back is gorgeous. The heel of the neck is stained black. The edge of the maple top is unfinished creating a binding-like look (some call it faux-binding). Sound: Wow. This guitar has tone for weeks. Whether you want jangly clean sounds, crunchy chords, or blistering solos...between the two different pickups, the coil splitting, and the boost...you can get it. Quality: Very good. Excellent finishing job. The joint between the fingerboard and neck can be felt but it doesn't impact playability...and this issue is present on many LPs (I examined 12 at GC and 11 had it - even 3 LP customs). Value: I feel this guitar is the best value in the LP lineup. Why? Because for the same price as a regular LP studio you get a flamed maple top, a rosewood fingerboard (as opposed to grenadillo), a more diverse pickup combo, and a 10dB boost. Looked at another way for only a few hundred dollars more than one of the tribute guitars you get an LP with a flamed maple top, a gloss finish (not the faded/satin finishes that rub off), and a hard case. Put simply this guitar gives you fantastic LP looks, fantastic LP tone, and amazing versatility for a reasonable price. When compared to imported guitars of similar quality (and there are many) you are probably paying a premium for the made-in-America label and the Gibson name. I do think it sounds better than most of the imports though.
This is a very solid guitar,beautiful top AA grade, deep tones, perfect playability, no buzz, buy it!!!!
The Gibson experience starts when you open the case and smell the aroma. This guitar actually has a distinctive scent which smells to me of caramel or chocolate or vanilla. Once out of the case and plugged into an amp the wide variety of available tones becomes apparent. The powerful humbuckers that come with this guitar resonate well with the mahogany and maple construction to produce beautiful harmonics or screaming sustain. I've played a variety of guitars over the years but this is the best I've owned to date and seems now to have been a bargain for what I paid.
First off I wanna say congrats to Gibson for finally producing something in an affordable package that doesnt suck!!!!!! Thanks So I picked this guy up today from guitar center near Pittsburgh. Those guys treated me great by the way. Right out of the gate I noticed a great set up on this guitar that was from factory. Everyone knows the lower line studios dont have the greatest 1000 dollar setup. second I wanna say this guitar is jam packed with features, from the split coils to the boost, and the flame maple top. The flame is no frills, it isnt the biggest flame, its very subtle, but its absolutely killer.......its no frills like studios are, no binding. Grover tuners are tight and look great.....bridge and tail piece are top notch, something different about this bridge, looks more high tech than a standard tone pros, or different design maybe. Single coil sounds much like a beefed up tele would, and the boost is absolutely amazing, these pots arent pull feature, they are very high tech, and you push them in, and they raise up, deffinately very easy to use on the fly......Its a tone monster, and will outperform many Gibsons twice the cost from previous years.....I have the vinatge sunburst, and I cant say enough about it!!!!!! This is the guitar I have waited a long time for Gibson to unveil, and they hit it out of the park for me. I own many studio models, a deluxe, an antique, and a standard, and this guy may have moved to the front of the pack as far as dynamics and versatility go........outside of pickups and variations in color, I couldnt find much of a difference between this and the traditional pro, so you decide for yourself.
