Overview

The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute is built on a solid tradition. Ever since its introduction in 1983, the Les Paul Studio model has been enormously popular with players seeking the power and versatility of the original Les Paul Standard in a ready-for-action package, with a price to match. The instruments' reduced ornamentation”lacking body or fingerboard binding, and using plainer tops”has helped to put them in the hands of many more players, while their adherence to the Les Paul's hardware, pickup, and construction traditions retained all the thick, meaty tone and unsurpassed playability for which the Standard has been known for nearly 60 years.

The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute is handcrafted by Gibson artisans in Nashville, Tennessee starting with a time-tested selection of tonewoods: a Les Paul mahogany body with a maple top that is graced with a grain textured satin finish. A mahogany neck with a '60s profile has a 22-fret baked maple fingerboard while a pair of P-90 provide the snappy biting tone. TonePros Kluson-style tuners and the Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge keep your tuning and intonation right where it should be.

Baked Maple:
Aging maple through a œbaking process called torrefaction. The wood is kept at 200-300º F for a period of time until the wood knows it' no longer a tree; Moisture is restored under pressure. This makes the wood very hard, sonically œlive and extremely stable. The snappy sound of ebony, with the look of medium-brown pau ferro. Many boutique manufacturers are now using this because it improves the wood with no chemical treatment, it' environmentally friendly and is great for making better sounding and playing guitars!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

I only have one down side to this guitar it plays great and has an expert tone but I wish it would have been lacquered so it wouldn't get scratched up as bad.

Great Tone

By MARK SELIGMAN

from NY, NY

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

Lets start off with the one thing that makes this a great guitar--p-90 pickups. It sounds great for the blues player. I love the sound and that is why I got it. The rest relates to the fact it is a Gibson and that means look at a few of these before you buy as the QA is suspect from guitar to guitar. As this is a great sounding guitar, I invested my time to make it play the way I wanted. I refinished the neck (not reshape, just made it feel like a well worn and smooth neck that is fast). I filed the frets to make it easier to slide. Simple things that only took about an hour and made it much better for me. NOTE: I usually remove gloss finish from the neck of most of my guitars - this one was a little rough unlike most Les Pauls that are sticky. Mine, like most is 4 a piece body BUT I have a friend who found a 2 piece body. Does not make that much difference. The chambered body means you can pick it up without using it in the gym as a weight. Again, it just sounds terrific for my type of blues playing and with a proper setup plays very well. Yes 5 starts as I love the sound. The battered finish is also cool

Great Guitar!!!

By Josh Oberting

from Indianapolis,IN

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

The Gibson Les Paul 60's Tribute Studio is a fantastic guitars. The P-90 pickups are awesome for the style of music I play. If you play metal, or hard rock, I would not recomend this guitar. The P-90s, when distorted, produce a, what is called, a "60hz buzz" which pretty much means that they, being single coil pickups, buzz when distorted. Other than that, this guitar is superb

Just what the doctor ordered

By stephen mcclellan

from Vallejo, Ca.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

I went looking for a guitar to replace my '97 PRS Standard 24 as my primary axe ( weight issues ) and after playing several dozen different varieties settled on the Gold Top. I took directly to rehearsal after purchase, installed strap locks, restrung it with .10's, and dropped the action a bit. WOW! The neck is fast and smooth, intonation is spot on, the P 90's just scream, and the volume and tone pots are smooth and noiseless. As for the weight, it's like a cloud compared to the PRS. I love the look of it, fit and finish are excellent. If you are more concerned with how it plays and sounds rather than how shiny it is this guitar will not fail to please. Well done, Gibson!

Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute

By Tony Riggs

from Norman, OK

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

This guitar rips! I've been playing for 28+ years on primarily fender guitars (which I still love) but was looking for a specific sound when playing blues style guitar and some rock songs. I've been wanting a Les Paul for some time and finally bought this one and from the moment I pulled it out of the box, I was hooked! The sound I was looking for when playing blues was all there; the fret board is fast and smooth; and sustain is way beyond what I expected. The guitar is a little heavy for a 5 hour gig; however, the sound and playability makes up for having to lug this thing around. If you like blues or any style of rock I recommend it...this thing rocks!

Simply a joy to play

By Thomas Jones

from Huntley Il

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

I order my Les Paul online and was amazed on how fast they got me my guitar. After letting it warm up a bit I took it out of the box and was surprise how light it was compare to my other Les Paul. With a little adjusting and tuning, the guitar is worth every penny that I paid for it. The finish was very nice, but I did notice a very small blemish on the face and it really does not effect the playability. I would recomend this guitar to a novice or someone who is starting out to learn guitar. Its a very fine guitar and I am happy with my purchase.

Great guitar!

By ANDRE ASSELIN

from Sunny Isles, Florida

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:

I love playing the guitar and this Gibson is just fantastic! I presently own a Fender and a Gretsch duo jet and this is the perfect addition to my collection: easy to play, great feel and a real bright rock sound. I now understand why so many musicians are Gibson' s players. Thanks to Eric A for his help at Hallandale' s shop and congratulations for Gibson s workmanship quality . If you can afford it, don' t wait!
