The Les Paul Studio '50s Tribute is built on a solid tradition. Ever since its introduction in 1983, the Les Paul Studio model has been enormously popular with players seeking the power and versatility of the original Les Paul Standard in a ready-for-action package, with a price to match. The instruments' reduced ornamentation—lacking body or fingerboard binding, and using plainer tops—has helped to put them in the hands of many more players, while their adherence to the Les Paul's hardware, pickup, and construction traditions retained all the thick, meaty tone and unsurpassed playability for which the Standard has been known for nearly 60 years.
The Les Paul Studio '50s Tribute has a traditional Les Paul mahogany body with a maple top that is graced with a grain texured satin finish. The mahogany neck with a '50s profile has a 22-fret baked maple fingerboard which adds the snappy response of ebony, but retains a warm, traditional medium-brown look like pau ferro. A 490R neck humbucker and 498T bridge humbucker harness the resonant power of the time-tested selection of tonewoods. TonePros Kluson-style tuners and the faithful Tune-O-Matic bridge keep your tuning and intonation right where it should be.
Aging maple through a “baking” process called torrefaction. The wood is kept at 200-300º F for a period of time until the wood knows it’s no longer a tree; Moisture is restored under pressure. This makes the wood very hard, sonically “live” and extremely stable. The snappy sound of ebony, with the look of medium-brown pau ferro. Many boutique manufacturers are now using this because it improves the wood with no chemical treatment, it’s environmentally friendly and is great for making better sounding and playing guitars!

I was looking for a Les Paul type of guitar. While on the phone with my local music store I was told about a new Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar that had just arrived. In Less then one hour later I was at the Guitar Center. The Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute Electric Guitar with Humbucker Pickups Satin Gold Top is beautiful. The tuners are Kluson style with a great looking head stock. The Gibson Les Paul name is in gold lettering. It comes with the 490R and 498T pickups. The pickups sound great but, I prefer the Gibson Burstbucker pros which I plan to have put in. I highly recommand the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute to anyone looking for an affordable guitar.
Ive had this guitar for about a month and a half now, and i love it. Everything about it is almost perfect, except im more of a Burstbucker person, or Seymour Duncan. But these pick ups do just fine until i have the extra money to get different pick-ups. Its a Les Paul Standard disguised as a studio. Buy it you wont regret it.
I ordered this Gibson site unseen, and was crossing my fingers that I would not regret this buy. This turned out to be a fantastic buy for (approx)$800. For the money you could not do any better. It's a true blue Gibson and has all the Gibson appeal and vibe that you would expect it to have. I got the Gold Top and I'm very please with this little gem. The whole guitar comes together around the gold top quite well. A real stunner. Pickups, neck, frets, action and playability are 100%. I extremely happy with this purchase and will buy another as a gift to my son for his upcoming birthday. Nicest thing is it's not costing an arm and a leg, I"m hoping the price will keep me out of the dog house when my wife finds out.
I got the satin honey burst, and absolutely love the look. The feel is amazing, and the sound is excellent. It's not just a guitar for the budget, this is an excellent buy whether you have an extra 2 grand to spend or not. The 490r and 498t pickups are great. After previously trying out all different Gibson pickups, I preferred these above the burstbuckers and 57 classics. They have a great clean to crunch sound. I already owned a set in chrome, and installed those with the Seymour Duncan Triple Shot. The chrome looks great with the rest of the chrome on the guitar. Very Recommended!
I was playing around with Les Pauls and sgs today at my local GC today,I had been looking at this guitar on line, I saw this one in satin gold top and had to try it, it was absolutely amazing, the action is awesome and the tone was amazing,i cant imagine finding a better guitar in this price range....I plan to save up and buy this baby, I cant emphasize enough how awesome this thing is.....if you can afford it, I highly recommend it :)
I have been saving up for several years for a Les Paul- probably a LP Std or LP Traditional. Love the Gold Tone Top. This model, the LP Studio 50's tribute came out and I had to try it. Once I tried it I was sold. It's incredibly good-looking, but it plays so smooth and fast and it sounds absolutely great! For the price which is less than 1/2 of the price of the STD or Trad., well it's a no-brainer. You gotta try it !
I bought this guitar about a week ago. Beautiful Honeyburst finish. (I prefer the satin finish to the high gloss) It plays, sounds & looks great. Just like a Les Paul should. The bridge pickup is hot but not too hot. The neck pickup has a nice warm tone. Setup was good out of the box. After a slight action adjustment & a few turns of the intonation screws it was even better. The neck has a nice feel & the maple fretboard is great. Great guitar. I'm glad I didn't spend an additional $1200 for a standard.
When i ordered this i was excited. sure who wouldnt be but when i played this i was lost in the harmony tht it brought out my line6 and i fell in love with this Beast of a guitar. The sound is the most amazing thing i have ever heard comeout of an amp there should be more reviews on this. its humbuckers are very diverse. they sound good with any sound, distorted, clean, jazz, all together i give this 10 out of 5. greatest guitar ive ever seen. the black is flat and i love that. I consider this too any one who loves guitar its a must have. Gibson made this one right.
I went into GC the other day and when I walked in I was instantly drawn to this gold top Les Paul so I picked it up and noticed that is wasn't quite as heavy as my other guitars but it felt completely amazing. I plugged it in and I instantly fell in love! This guitar looks amazing and plays even better! I highly recommend it! Plus the price isn't that deathly either. Astonished Customer Status set.
