BurstBucker V pickups feature Alnico V magnets like those used in the P90s from the '50s. One coil has more wraps than the other, as did most '50s and early '60s "Patent Applied For"s. You wish you had one if you don't!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I waited over 20 years, and finally, after tinkering around with cheap ( 4-6 hundred dollar range) guitars and almost giving up playing, I jumped back into it. I luckily found myself this Les Paul, which for me was always the stuff of dreams. I have a 2002 ebony LP Standard which I got (with the trade in of a cheap Mexi Strat) for $1482 even. I have owned mine now for almost 5 years, and what is amazing is that it just keeps improving, both in playability and sound. The burstbuckers aren't messing around - they are serious, and they sound amazing. The big "batlike" neck is only strange if you are used to skinny little Ibanez type necks - otherwise, the action and build of it feel perfect. Mine has been modded just to make it truly mine, with black accessories, no pickguard, and vintage knobs with silver volume and tone labels. I use Elixir Nanoweb strings, 9-42 gauge, and I can bend all the way around the neck and back. Barely a slice of paper will fit between the strings and the frets, but NO fret buzz, anywhere. I run stereo out of a Boss GT8 pedal into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and a late 60's Fender Bassman head/cab, and if there is a cool sound/tone out there, I can reproduce it. If you want to be a serious player, then do yourself a favor and get a serious guitar. This is one. Unless you're spoiled or just dumb, you will LOVE it. Don't wait - Gibson likes to add $50 or $100 to the price whenever they feel like it. Soon, you will need a mortgage to get one of these things!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

The Gibson Les Paul is a great guitar. It's great for soloing. The neck is easy to move up and down on, for quick fingers/hands. For a young player, it's a bit heavy. Great for Jazz, Blues. I hav owned this guitar for about a year now and I have found no problems with it. I play jazz guitar in a band. And this guitar as worked grreat for me. If you want a well constructed and a great quality guitar. This guitar is for you.
