Overview

The feel and sound of the original '50s Les Paul comes from the classic hefty neck design of the Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar. With a smaller peghead, push-in-bushing green tuning keys, and nickel hardware. You get staggering looks with brilliant transparent finishes on figured maple tops. BurstBucker V pickups feature Alnico V magnets like those used in the P90s from the '50s. One coil has more wraps than the other, as did most '50s and early '60s "Patent Applied For" coils. These waxed, double-potted pickups deliver a tighter, balanced, biting tone with more midrange. Mahogany body and neck with rosewood fretboard. Gibson includes a hardshell case with your '50s Neck Les Paul Standard Guitar.

What a guitar should be!

By Moore5150

from Michigan

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar for about 10 years now and my Gibson Les Paul Standard is the best guitar I have ever played. I have a model with a honeyburst finish and 50's style rounded neck. I prefer the thicker neck for really digging in and rocking hard, but it also plays very fast. The guitar sounds amazing, looks amazing, plays amazing, I really can't say enough good about it. I Love My LP!!

A dream Come true

By Lead guy, NVM

from Western Mass

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I have wanted a real Les Paul for 20 years, but other priorities got in the way ( kids, house, etc) I finally got mine in 2004, an ebony/cream model. At first the fat neck was very different, and I wondered if I wanted the 60's neck instead. Now, it just feels like home. The Burstbuckers in this LP are massively powerful and produce amazing, pro tones that make you feel like a star, even if you haven't made it out of the basement yet. I switched the trim on mine to black, changed the knobs to black with silver tops labelled volume/tone. I took off the cream pickguard and made thisguitar my own. I play mine into a Boss GT8 board and out into a vintage Fender Bassman stack and a Hot Rod Deluxe, and we play a lot of variety but mainly heavy, heavy rock stuff. This guitar is perfect for any style I feel like playing. With any luck, you'll hear what it sounds like some day, or if you got the bucks, get one yourself! I was lucky enough to have a trade, and got a huge deal on mine, but even at it's current price, it's worth it. Oh yeah - mine has this "smell" to it that I love. It's like this antique-ish, oily guitar polish, high quality guitar smell. Hard to put into words, but I'll finish by saying that I will never part with this one.

Gibson Quality at its Finest

By GeoGuitar

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for over 25 years and finally purchased my long sought after Gibson Les Paul Standard (Wine Red)with 50's neck. I don't know why I waited so long. I should have bought it long ago. The playability of the instrument is amazing. The finish is flawless. It not only creates art, it IS art. It makes me a better player every day because I can't put it down. Thanks Gibson.

Sounds like what a USA Les Paul Should like

By rockguitar4u

from Fond du Lac, WI

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

USAI purchased this USA made guitar a month ago and i am very pleased, no problem with 50s neck, in fact it so feels good, and no problem going back and forth from this to my USA strat, so you'll just have to buy both, off all the pauls i tested in this price range this guitar sounded the best, like a guitar you here Clapton and Page playing during the Cream and Zepplin years, or like Mick Ronson during his Bowie days, and don't forget this is the guitar hard rock was invented on.

Wow!! Jimmy Page knew!

By Marc Gohres

from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for all my life and finally forked up the cash for my dream axe. I have owned probably about 15 or so guitars throughout the years, never thought I would actually get a LP. Worth every penny, the sound and playability are incredible. I still own 2 fenders, an Ibanez and a Washburn but now, I find myself only playing the Gibson. The neck takes about a day to get used to, then your off and flying. Only drawback, you go back to the skinny necks of Fenders and it feels strange.

It's ALL TRUE!

By TEXAXESLINGER

from Granbury, TX

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I have been unable to financially achieve this guitar for my past 23 years of playing. I've been getting by with a fender copy and an old Kramer Focus 1000. I finally ponied up the dough at my local Guitar Center and came home with my dream. My Les Paul Standard 50's neck Hertiage Cherryburst is simply the best instrument I've ever played. I've fiddled with many at the stores, much to the dismay of many storkeepers I'm sure, and none other compare. This finely crafted work of art can sound any way you want it to with little effort. In combination with a true tube amp, it is pure magic. It's not just the Gibson name, or it's over half-a-century of tradition in every form of music. This guitar is amazing. I am compelled to play it constantly. Get one!

Tax Time

By Dogdew

from Seattle WA.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I am one of those guys who moans and groans about living dying and paying taxes. My resolution for 2007 is to live a little more before I die. When I was a kid I mowed my Dads lawn for five dollars a week for a year and he bought me my first 1976 Les Paul Goldtop. One of the worst days of my life was the day is was stolen. Ever since then I swore that one day before I die I'd get it back. This year I'm using my tax check to make this dream come true. Les Paul is the guitar dreams are made of.

Great Guitar

By ZoSo7

from Corinth, MS

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I own nine guitars and my Les Paul is by far the best. It is beautiful and plays great, but when you plug it up and listen to it is when it really stands out. The tone and fullness of the sound is unmatched. The sustain on it last forever and the burstbuckers have this growl that you don't here in any other guitar. It is awesome and I highly recomend it.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar at my local Guitar Center and I loved it. The heritage cherry looks great in person unlike some other guitar companies. I'm getting one very soon. I already know I'll be happy with it.

the name les paul says it all

By jimmypage32

from California, L.A.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

my dad surprised me one day with this guitar. I knew i was getting a new guitar but i expected an epiphone or something. I was dead wrong. Instead i got probably one of the greatest guitars ive ever played. The tone is excellent for any kind of music. Whether its metallica to greenday to hendrix, this guitar does its job. This is not gonna come as a shock but les pauls are heavy and if you play strats it is gonna take a while to get used to the weight and also the thick 50s neck. Also, be prepared to spend a fortune.

Deluxedan

By Dan Cleveland

from Elma New York

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Neck Electric Guitar:

Finally snagged a Lp for Christmas. I have played just about anything with strings on it over my lifetime;it would be difficult to top this guitar. Quite heavy but that only confirms that you're holding onto a beast. The humbuckers sing when you want them to and are sedate when needed. Quality of workmanship is outstanding and it plays as if an angel is directing your fingers... Hats off to Gibson for "bringing it home".
